Renter Rights in BC - Help
Context: I live in a basement suite and my landlord is a friend of a friend and lives upstairs, we have had an extremely good renting relationship up until this week where they have crossed the line.
So here's the situation, I found out yesterday that my landlord has entered my home without telling me on two different occasions, while I was not home. On another occasion they gave me less than 24 hours notice of someone they had to bring into my place, and it was scheduled for 7 am, and I had no choice in the matter of when the repair person would be entering my place to do work. I also am not on a proper lease, I never signed anything when I moved in (I know that's not great), but I have been etransferring them rent every month. Anywho with all that said, I want to be petty and move out by the end of the month and not directly say anything. They may see me moving things out but I don't feel the need to give them the respect of a heads up. In BC, can they come after me for/ about anything if I just leave and text them at the end of the month that I am no longer living there? I understand I might not get my damage deposit back and that's fine, I have made peace with that. Just don't want to be petty and end up in more trouble than it's worth.
TLDR; I want to leave my month to month rental without giving my landlord a heads up. Will it come back and bite me? Or do I have nothing to worry about?
