Article length - Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing journal

I am trying to submit my article to a proper journal but it is around 47 pages long. My supervisor prefers detailed writing.

I am currently targeting the Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing journal (link: https://www.sciencedirect.com/journal/mechanical-systems-and-signal-processing). They mention that they have

  • Standard Research Articles
  • Long Research Articles

For Long Research Articles, MSSP says the authors must justify in the cover letter why the extra length is needed.

Which category do you recommend I choose based on my article length?

Do you generally have recommendations for good journals (similar in scope to MSSP) that do not impose penalties on page limit?

Also what do you generally think of Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing?

Thanks in advance

Change of authorship in ACM journals

Around 10 days after submitting a journal first article to ACM Transactions on Software Engineering and Methodology, one of the co-authors requested to be removed from the list of authors because they do not consider their contribution sufficient to be a co-author on the article.
I tried to look online to find out what is the process for that, but couldn't find instructions on ACM website. Could you please help me figure out what to do now to remove their name? When I log in to scholarOne I see the names of the ASSTs and I see "under review". This is my first time submitting an article so I am not really familiar with the process and whether it is even possible to remove their name at this stage. Please advise.
