What to buy with 1.000

I have around $1,000 to spend and I'm looking to buy my first handheld gaming PC, but I'm honestly a bit overwhelmed by all the options out there.

Most of my game library is on Steam, and I already have a fairly powerful gaming PC for playing AAA games at ultra settings. The handheld would mainly be for gaming on the couch, in bed, while traveling, or whenever I can't sit down at my desk.

I'm usually the type of person who prefers buying the best option available and keeping it for several years, rather than upgrading frequently. Because of that, I'm trying to make the most future-proof choice possible.

Right now I'm looking at the Steam Deck, ROG Ally, Lenovo Legion Go, and the newly announced Xbox/ROG devices, but I'm not sure which direction to go. I've also heard rumors about future Steam hardware, so part of me wonders if I should just wait.

For those of you who own one of these devices, what would you recommend and why? If you were buying your first handheld today with a $1,000 budget, what would you choose?

I'd really appreciate any advice or personal experiences. Thanks!

Share your Stress Free Build

Even though I really enjoy the game, following build orders tends to stress me out too much. I like competing, but I don’t like ending up stressed after a long day of work. I’m trying to find a balance between relaxing and being competitive. I watched a video by Beasty where he shared a “Stress Free Build,” and I thought, “Awesome, that’s exactly what I need — something solid without the stress of hyper-detailed micro.”

I’d love for people here to share their own “Stress Free Builds” for players who enjoy competing, but don’t dream of becoming top world-class players — while also not wanting to be complete pushovers.
