[acne] doctor immediately prescribed me accutane without trying anything else
hello! so for the past 4-5 years ive been a really picky person and was constantly irritating/popping any bumps i had, leading to skin like this. so recently, my sister and i went to a dermatologist for the first time, and he immediately put both of us on 8-month accutane without much question. I’m not sure how the process should be like, but ive heard a lot about accutane being a final resort after trying other medication (this is my first time being prescribed ANYTHING other than a topical cream from a walk-in clinic with 0 effect). while my sister has bad acne and i could understand her being prescribed with accutane, im not too sure about my case? ive heard a lot about the negative post-accutane effects on ppl with mild to no acne, so im kinda scared. and compared to other cases, my skin doesnt seem bad enough for accutane, in my opinion. im considering talking to my dermatologist again, but i would love any advice for how to move forward.
