Unrealistic Expectations

I get it we all want to create something that makes us rich but that mindset is getting in the way of making something that at least earns a little money.

Everyday I see posts for apps that seem clever, solve a small need or are frankly 1 of 10,000 and they all seem to have unrealistic pricing. Everything cannot be a subscription or a Saas. Many apps are just minor curiosities or utilities that do something useful but basic. but are priced like the developer expects to retire on this one app.

I'm not trying to shame anyone - it's just that more realistic pricing might very well help your total sales. I literally just saw an app that wanted 16 or so bucks a year or 3 a month and all it did was one small semi neat thing - in no way was it deserving of a subscription - no content continually being developed, no huge user understandable back end charges etc. At best it was a couple buck app and frankly might do better just running gated ads....

I hate to tell you but the tip calculator app you slaved over that "removes all the friction and confusion of all the other tip calculator apps" is worth a one time 99 cents at most and frankly since the phone has Siri and or a calculator probably worth nothing.

Yes the occasional breakout viral basic app happens but that is luck not business. The market doesn't see value based on your time or investment but rather what the app can do for them.

Also though it would be cool to write a post that wasn't just one sentence fragment after another, each on their own line like I am a visionary disclosing something revolutionary 😉

Well good news is my App was picked up and processed in under 12 hours....

The bad news is I also got one go the "Guideline 2.1 - Information Needed - New App Submission - A screen recording captured on a physical device demonstrating the app's functionality. The recording must begin with launching the app and show the typical user flow through its core features. If the app has any of the following, include them in the recording:" requests.

This app doesn't require a walk through to under stand, doesn't have any user generated content etc. Just straight forward run coaching.... So I don't think they are doing this only when they don't understand the app. Wondering if this is pushing back on the influx of apps and make submits defend their submission?? Not a big deal will have want they want in a few minutes but in 10+ years have never seen this.
