If I loved being overwhelmed by Moulin Rouge , what is the next broadway show you would recommend for me to see?

I’m planning a special NYC day/night with my 86-year-old mom and could use recommendations from people who really know the city’s arts scene — especially for people of color.
I originally started looking at opera and Broadway options, but honestly a lot of what I’m seeing feels very centered around white nostalgia, old wealthy New York culture, or eras that don’t necessarily feel emotionally warm or welcoming as a Black family. I’m realizing I want something that feels culturally rich, elegant, joyful, and relaxed instead of feeling like we’re sitting through someone else’s version of history.
My mom is older, so accessibility and comfort matter too.
We like:
jazz
live vocals
beautiful music
classy atmosphere
Black cultural energy/history
multigenerational experiences
great food
Open to:
Broadway
jazz clubs
opera if it’s genuinely worth it
Harlem recommendations
Lincoln Center
supper clubs
live music experiences
Would especially love recommendations for:
ONE unforgettable Broadway show
ONE jazz/music experience
Great dinner nearby (Harlem or Manhattan)
Basically trying to create a beautiful NYC memory for my mom where we feel relaxed and welcomed, not like outsiders.
Thank you ❤️
