Going off to bmt in about a month
I’m going off to boot camp july 7th and I graduate next week from high school. I just had questions about finance while being in the navy/military. I’m not the most knowledgeable person about finance but I was thinking once I get in and finish boot camp and actually start getting paychecks that I should save like 80%-90% of my checks and just putting it into my savings account. I’m already setup with navy federal which I believe is best for military service members but is there anything else I should be looking into in terms of finance? My goal is to come out of the navy with a good amount of money saved since the military benefits already cover a lot of things at least while you’re in. I plan to do 4 years and go to college with gi bill benefits.

How is the overall boot camp experience? How is the food? I assume showering will be awkward. Should I shave the little bit of facial hair that I have before going to bmt or will they shave it for me? How is the sleep? Do you get to choose your bunk buddy or is it assigned? (I don’t really mind either way just curious). Are there any weirdos like racist, corny, military kid type of people? Can you read books if there even are any? The rate I have is CTT and my school is Pensacola and I was just curious because my friend said that you can fail tech school I assume this is true but how common is that? And is it true that you have to have a 75% or higher score on test in order to pass?
