refusing to schedule my appointments in after dental treatment plan was established…left to wait for a call when they were had time to get me in every time…Fargo, ND
North Dakota private dental practice accepted my emergency request for treatment with Medicaid health insurance. After initial fix of my tooth, we created a treatment plan to continue care, the practice did not allow me to schedule my appointments ahead of time…I was on an on call (when there was a patient cancellation, or could fit me in) type of routine with them. They told me they do this with every patient even though they continued to obviously schedule other patients right after their appointments. My insurance changed after I had already been seen for half of my treatments, about a year in. I wasn’t aware my new plan didn’t cover dental (my fault) weeks later after my last time being seen I received a very big bill about a service that was initially covered, but since it was pushed out so far into the new insurance, it wasn’t covered anymore… I tried to ask for my billing statements for all of my services my treatment plan records and everything that had been done just to make sure everything looked normal and correct. Reception had always been a little standoffish towards me, but I try not to think about it too much until I asked for my records and it was clearly a big inconvenience to see them and to see the billing statement for everything that has been done so far. instead of receiving the records like I had asked, they gave me the option of a third-party payment plan and that was that. I haven’t heard from them in about a year now no explanation even though I considered that to be my regular dentist I might be overthinking this, but is this medical negligence?discrimination? patient abandonment? Because this is a private practice and it is one doctor and he makes all the decisions. Is it right to be treated differently because I was on state insurance and not on a private plan? I might be overthinking it, but I can’t get over feeling just thrown away… And because they were in the middle of preparing for the next part of my treatment plan my teeth have gotten worse because of certain things that weren’t finished. If that makes sense I don’t know someone help me lol any ideas if this is an issue to actually pursue or do I just accept what is?
