Is it bad to ask for flowers?
I, 20F, have been constantly on top of my class for as long as I can remember. I was never on the bottom of the food chain and constantly grinds to be or at least reach the top. However, neither once did my parents gave me any flowers or anything as congratulations.
It sounds so petty, but I honestly just wanted to feel special for once. At times, whenever I tell them I got an award again, it feels like old news to them. Maybe they got used to it? But huhu can't I just get a sincere congratulations with a gift?
When I reached the regionals for a competition. Nothing
When I became the president of my high school. Nothing.
When I gradyate as salutatorian in high school. Nothing.
When I got into a prestigious school. Nothing.
When I was awarded for an animal welfare initiative. Nothing.
When I received an award during my first year of college. Nothing.
A simple bouquet will do, I know they can afford it, they were able to buy my brother this HUGE customized box of lego bouquet. Then why can't I have one?
My achievements became so normalized in my household, and I lowkey hated it. I want them to feel surprised, too, and overwhelmingly proud of the achievement I bring.
Now that my second year awarding is coming, is it bad if I finally ask for flowers?
