How insane is my plot to approach my crush?

Pata hai aaj kya hua. I have a best friend who's genuinely in love with me, one sided attachment. He literally is willing to do anything for me. I told him I have huge crush on this very tall, muscular guy who doesn't talk to anyone except a girl who's nowhere close to his league. (Which is why I'm hopeful they're nothing more than friends)

So my plan is that my best friend would befriend my crush and try to get his life details so that I can know if he's single and available. My bestfriend literally talked to the crush guy and ended up shaking hands with him. This is the second time they talked.

First time, my friend simply stood up and asked him, "what's your name, bro?" I was hell embarassed. We didn't even hear his full name. And then my friend goes like, "okay please shut the door while leaving." (We were in the study room). That was hell awkward but that's how I literally found out his name and stalked his insta.

I have approached him twice only for notes and general study related stuff and he just responded without adding anything to the Convo. So, I think this is the only way I can get to know him via my bestfriend.

But I'm afraid, my crush has seen me with my bestfriend multiple times and he might think why both us approach him independently and try to talk to him when he literally keeps to himself. 😭

My question is: boys, have you been approached by a girl's male friend and had a doubt that he was approaching you because the girl told him to? How did that turn out? Did you ever find out or are you still skeptical?
