Recently moved into my great grandmother's old house, she was a Gardner and I just keep seeing new blooms, I would like ID on these two plants. Thank you

I live in northern NJ pretty close to stokes state forest and have been dealing with a dog tick problem, everytime I step out my backdoor i find at least one on me, I live in a densely wooded area with swamp around me, is anyone else dealing with this? And what would be the best solution? i have an outdoor barn cat so I'm hesitant on strong pesticides
