Allow me to put on my tinfoil hat for a moment.

I saw a post on instagram from Hollyshorts announcing a grant worth $25,000 (due August 5) in partnership with IMGN. Wow, I thought to myself, what a cool opportunity. I then remembered how familiar that brand sounded, because just recently I saw another grant with CFA they funded for $4,500. I also just saw they announced a partnership with Raindance... and then, right there in the article: "Israeli AI creative development platform IMGN".

Now, I am not here to make things political, but in just the past month alone, they've spent around 50k on funding grants for up and coming filmmakers, which again in theory sounds great... but the catch is that you have to use their software in order to apply.

So, out of curiosity, I logged into their website. As someone who is against AI, I did not USE the platform, but I was curious what it had to offer and how it might be used. They offer pre-production tools: things to help with pre-vis, script breakdowns, lookbooks, budgets. But, something about me feels like this is just another way for the American media to be... well you know, impacted by that aforementioned country.

I'm curious if anyone here has applied, plans on applying, has used the platform, and if you know who the owners of the company are?

I know their website says the selected fellows will hear back from them mid-July, so I’m curious if anyone has heard anything back from them yet?
