any local pet rescues open today?

hello! last night me and my mom found an lost or abandoned cat. (he’s very friendly and has a flea collar but is very skinny which leads us to believe that he’s been outside for a bit.)
we saw him after getting home late last night and he instantly came up to us after hearing people talking and realizing that we’re nice.
we cannot keep him because we have two dogs that don’t do well with cats, however it doesn’t feel right to just let him go back outside (we currently have it in a dog cage with food and water)
my mom refuses to drive over an hour to a shelter (i cannot drive)
we’re still trying to contact some local shelters but because of the 4th its really hard to actually get anyone to respond.
any help is appreciated
(EDIT: help is not as needed as before, thank you everyone that offered!!)

are there any insects that could kept in this enclosure?

this is out of general curiosity and not a “oh i’m gonna buy this!” type of thing
small is 8Lx4Wx4H while large is 14Lx8Wx6H, is there anything i could keep in this without making it suffer? i was thinking of a small species of millipede, however i don’t think it’d have enough burrowing room.

started growing my own spinach so my beetles will eat veggies :)

i’ve had a surplus of troubles with my beetles not wanting to eat any veggies besides spinach (which i stopped feeding them due to high pesticide use even in organic) but now i have my own i can feed them!

are anyone elses bdfb really picky?

my guys are SO picky ive tried them with so many veggies and they don’t like any of them (besides spinach, but i stopped feeding my guys that after finding out theyre part of the dirty dozen). it’s gotten to where i’m starting to grow my own spinach without pesticides so i know that they’ll actually eat some veggies and get hydration. they literally only eat fish flakes and the occasional beetle jelly (however has to be fruit flavored for them to even touch it)

i cant really get a good picture of under her to see her epigyne, however ive had her for about 5 months now and she hasn’t molted at all, which makes me believe she might be full grown even though shes super tiny
