My girlfriend and I have been together for almost 2 years. Last night we were watching TV when she suddenly asked: "If I gained 100 pounds, would you still be attracted to me?" I thought she was joking, so I laughed and said: "Probably not physically, but I'd still love you." Apparently that was the wrong answer. She got really quiet and later told me she was disappointed because she wanted someone who would find her attractive no matter what. I told her I was just being honest and that attraction and love aren't the same thing. Now she's barely talking to me and one of her friends texted me saying I was insensitive. I genuinely wasn't trying to hurt her feelings. I thought lying would've been worse. Did I mess up here? What do I do?
