Mirror Fitness
Hi everyone! I’m a student developer and I’ve spent the last few months building Mirror, an iPhone app that uses the front camera to provide real-time biomechanical feedback on your workout form.
The Tech: It’s built using Vision and AVFoundation to track 13+ joint points. I’ve hand-tuned the geometry for squats and push-ups to detect specific faults like knee valgus, heel lift, and torso lean. I’m also building a "future-self" projection feature to help with long-term motivation.
The Big Win: I just got the green light from my university’s Student Wellness center to post digital signs and flyers around the campus gym to recruit student testers! It started as a "for fun" project to help me stop cheesing my own reps, but it’s becoming a real tool for athletic safety.
What I’m looking for: I’m about to submit to the App Store and would love some fresh eyes on the UX.
• Does the "Skeleton-Only" privacy mode actually make you feel better about using a camera in the gym?
• Is the real-time audio coaching helpful or annoying? Any other feature that sees crowded or unhelpful?
