Mirror Fitness

Mirror Fitness

Hi everyone! I’m a student developer and I’ve spent the last few months building Mirror, an iPhone app that uses the front camera to provide real-time biomechanical feedback on your workout form.

The Tech: It’s built using Vision and AVFoundation to track 13+ joint points. I’ve hand-tuned the geometry for squats and push-ups to detect specific faults like knee valgus, heel lift, and torso lean. I’m also building a "future-self" projection feature to help with long-term motivation.

The Big Win: I just got the green light from my university’s Student Wellness center to post digital signs and flyers around the campus gym to recruit student testers! It started as a "for fun" project to help me stop cheesing my own reps, but it’s becoming a real tool for athletic safety.

What I’m looking for: I’m about to submit to the App Store and would love some fresh eyes on the UX.

•    Does the "Skeleton-Only" privacy mode actually make you feel better about using a camera in the gym?

•    Is the real-time audio coaching helpful or annoying? Any other feature that sees crowded or unhelpful?

Student project!

I’m tryna build this thing that corrects form live like just dance kinda. Obviously it has limitations because I need to be in front of a camera, but it’s been fun working with algorithms and ml to help the computer recognize certain workouts

I’m building a rule based form-coach for bodyweight training—just got approval to pilot at my university gym!

•    If you’re a developer: I’d love a critique on my CoreInteractor pattern for managing all these live tracking services.

Thanks so much!
