Making an Original P2e Campaign - Any advice?

As the title says.

I've had some thoughts about a few stories for years now, and one in specific I've been letting cook and developed a bit further. But I am, as its clear, finding it hard actually going through writing the actual events that the campaign would lead through.

Now I will not lie, I have not run a campaign for P2e yet, and I intend to run one or more adventures before running this original. But I would like to put some time into it meanwhile, so that its ready to be run as soon as possible.

Do you have any advices on how to go through it? Combat I think I don't need to worry about it right now, specially since the community has developed such amazing tools including one to help come up with combats. I'm more concerned with the actual acts/chapters, how to keep things interesting and how to write them detailed enough to have a plot, but not so much as to completely railroad my players. How to write good intrigue and mysteries to keep my players thinking and planning on their own.

I know a lot of it resumes to "You need to think deeply about the characters and their situations and motivations" but maybe some of you can shine a light on my head and give this dusty cranky thinking machine a start.
