I get this community is quite special as we play mostly Aoe2 and not much anything else, but I'm curious about what other games you spend hours on. I personally became quite fond of They are Billions and the Two Point studios ones. For some reason no other Aoe game hss interested me a single bit haha.

I find easier to manage my eco if I go through a checklist of automated decisions based in numbers. 4 vills per deer if I'm milling them, 4 sheep alive til I click Feudal, 8 on wood the moment I click, farm every 60 wood, 15 farms til I click Castle, 6 on gold if I'm going knights, 17 farms til wheelbarrow and so on. Wonder if you had any other.
