Hello

I am an owner of 2 leopard geckos. I’m still learning as everyone else is.

My one 3 year old gecko is disabled. He has reoccurring eye issues, soft mouth tissue, coordination issues and shedding issues that my vet has officially said that they are genetic.

I’m still learning a care routine that works for us.

I soak him for 5 minutes daily so I can get saline drops into his eyes, which my vet told me to do. And we also do weekly 10-15 minute soaks for his spores and shedding issues.

I feed mealworms and softer feeders because of his mouth issues (can’t feed crickets or dubias because of their harder shells) Dusting with Calcium w/ D3 as well as Vitamins on other days, And he gets the option for Calcium w/out D3 twice a week (due to disabilities he can't have it in his tank 24/7, as instructed by my vet)

He is a super sweet boy and does need help eating as well. No care sheet or video could have prepared me for him but just like any pet owner, I’m trying my best and doing what I can to make sure he has the best quality of life

And I’m working on making his tank set up better for him. I’m planning on switching to tiles but he’s on paper towels right now. I wanted to see what other disabled gecko owners are doing to get some inspiration on how I can improve his setup.

He lives in a 20 gallon long and I just switched out his water dish for something more shallow. Took out sharper caves. I can get a picture soon.

due to his eye issues, I do have to tong-feed him. And we have a system that’s working.

And, the 20 gallon tank has been working and he does seem stressed when in a 40 (I did try it out and he wasn’t himself if that makes sense. So I put my other one in the 40 and he’s been doing great in the 20.) he also has UVB and Heat lamp. (it's around 85-88 degrees F)

Current Tank Setup

Here’s what his tank looks like.

The wall cave, I am working on replacing.

And I am also switching him to tile.

The small white cave is his humid hide. The top is where I put cotton balls (recommended by my vet so he would have minimal chances of getting something in his eyes. And he likes going in there.)

And the cork bark will also be switched out

Any other changes I should make? and what do your set ups look like?
