360mm * 120mm duct mount
Hi all,
I had a 360mm * 120mm duct mount made for my setup, as no solutions (other than others using cardboard which I suppose is something). It does cost a bit to produce, but thought to share here in case any of you would like to duct your heat outside or direct it say during the winter.
Moreover, you may wish to leverage inline duct fans, they are extraordinary, but you must ensure the fans spin the same direction as your case fans. For example, if you're using the stock GPU 3 * fans, the middle fan typically rotates the other direction, an inline duct fan could overpower that and cause the motor to generate power, causing damage. If you're using a radiator with the GPU, the fan direction will most likely be good.
Open to feedback, looking to make the duct diameter configurable, and support 240mm and 480mm in the near future. Works extremely well for my setup, though I am reworking it for local LLM inference, fine-tuning and training with dual 3090's, 5950x, and 128gb ram. I have a heat radar gun that can visually show the heat I can take images with, so I'll share its performance with and without the inline duct fan if you would like over the coming weeks.
Note that an inline duct fan is optional, if you have decent static pressure fans (especially Noctua fans), your case will likely cover the distance itself.
