MLB umpires have a tough job, trying to call balls and strikes with 100% accuracy. The new ABS System is helping to correct some of the bad calls, but some umps are worse than others. I propose that, at season's end, some umps get 'sent down' to the minor leagues. Umps that grade at 90% or higher for correct ball/strike calls that get challenged get to stay in the Majors, and the highest percentage of correct calls get to work the post-season. Grade out at 89% to 80%? You get sent to AAA for the next season. 79% to 70%? Sent to AA. 69% to 60%? Single A. Less than 60%? You're fired. Conversely, Minor league umps that grade out great get to move up. Good idea or not? Suggestions?
