What’s the worst team to have an MVP winner

With the Royals off to a putrid start, and Bobby Witt being his usual super-human self, it got me wondering. What’s the worst team to have an MVP winner?

Edit: Looks like Cal Ripken on the Orioles in 1991 is the low mark. 67-95 record. Now the question is, can Bobby win it? And will the Royals get to 67 wins?

Home Run Derby - Seat Question

Does anyone know when / where these sections goes on sale for the Home Run Derby?

I’ve seen tickets allocations and offers go out for phillies season ticket holders (full, partial) mastercard, capital one, presale’s but I haven’t seen anything else.

Did anyone receive notice from the mlb regarding the lottery strip drawing?

I just find it very odd and unlikely that these sections have very little availability for resale on secondary markets.

Thanks in advance!

Since when do MLB players warm up with a football?

Video from earlier this week at Wrigley: Brewers at Cubs. What’s the point? Different way to stretch? Just a football flex? Imagine some player having to explain injury because your finger got jammed with a football.

Never seen it before.

The odds of someone hitting two grand slams in the same inning is basically 1 in 75869795847. In ‘99 Fernando Tatis Sr. did it. He’s the only one in baseball history to ever accomplish this feat

What is the MLB's "butt fumble"?

In the NFL, New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez stumbled into the butt of an offensive lineman, causing him to fumble the ball and allow the Patriots to return it for a touchdown. This happened back in 2012, and many people argue that this mistake was so bad that the Jets have still never recovered as a franchise. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82RIfy-gRa4

What would be the MLB version of the butt fumble? As in, what single mistake did a team/player make that was so bad, that their team arguably hasn't recovered from the impact of that mistake since.

I'm a huge fan of the NFL but I don't know much about the MLB, so I'm curious.

Congrats, Rox! You're no longer No. 30

Or so says ESPN:

>For the first time since Week 3 of last year's Power Rankings (April 17, 2025), the Rockies are not the last team on our list. Colorado moves up one spot to 29th for the first time in over a year because of the new low the Angels have reached, as they now sit at No. 30 with the worst record in MLB.

Well, there you go.

Other movers and shakers?

The Rays are in the top three for the first time in almost two years.

The White Sox, less than 1 1/2 seasons removed from the record books, are in the top half of MLB teams on ESPN's rankings, for the first time since 2022.

And, the Fighting Phils under new manager Dominant Donnie, cracked the top 10. Isn't it time for Dombrowski to remove the "interim" title?

And, given the new doormat, isn't it time Trout backs off his stance and asks for a trade? Or does he want to stay there, whether because it's California, or because "no pressure" or whatever?

Colorado Rockies fan here. ❤️❤️

As a life long Rockies fan who doesn't invest as much time in the sport, I love the Rockies I want them to one day make it, but will they? Or will the city or owners sell the team.. Sometimes I see talk that could happen. They're basically a farm team.. But will it actually happen? Anyone know? Or do we feel Rockies will forever stay since the fan base is so loyal and the stadium is so beautiful

Has there ever been a game like tonight’s Padre Dodger game in MLB history?

Ohtani hit the first pitch of the game for a home run. He went on to pitch 5 scoreless innings. Has a pitcher ever done that where their first pitch as a hitter won the game as a pitcher?

Houston Astros - Don’t forgot, Cheaters!

Just wanted to come on here and remind everybody of how the Houston Astros cheated and got a World Series out of it. They only apologized because they got caught and would still be doing it most likely if they were never caught. As a former Pitcher myself, I would have a hard time pitching against them because I would want to beam every batter that I faced. Biggest cheating scandal is MLB and they virtually got no punishment.

Who are the biggest Two True Outcome players?

TWO not THREE true outcomes. By 2 True Outcomes, I mean someone who literally only walks or strikes out. Kind of like your typical little league game where a player can't hit but hopes the pitcher can't lay one in the zone.

What are some of the MLB examples of this? A player that can't hit home runs but often either walks or strikes out.

Not just an inside-the-park homer but a grand salami

No error, but LF Morabito and CF Taylor both missing a ball in the gap then Taylor stares at Morabito after he hit the wall, rather than chasing the ball, in what's surely a Mets moment.

Who's the one player on your favorite team who got away?

Who's The one who got away for your favorite team? Growing up a Cubs fan it eas Greg Maddux. The Cubs always stated it was a missed phone call. If you watch The Greg Maddux documentary on MLB Network, Greg Maddux wanted to win & The Cubs didn't really have a plan so he signed with The Braves. Hated it as a kid, but understood. Currently, it's Kyle Schwarber. I understand Cubs were rebuilding, but man it would have been nice for him to remain a Cub..Who's yours?
