I do not understand which player this player is specifying. So say I'm the attacker and I just finished my last fights first and there is no more fights first left and there is 2 other units engaged with no fights first. Am I, as the attacking "this player" who just ended this phase and thus moving us into resolve remaining combats and get to attack first? Or is the defender "this player" since it was my turn to use a fights first unit since we alternate, I don't have any and thus now we go to resolve remaining combats phase and I attack first?

This is straight from the 11th edition core rules that just got released.
