Falun Dafa instruction classes are available online in more than 170 countries worldwide. By the end of 2025, these global online instruction classes and nine-day sessions, conducted by 32 volunteer teams in 28 languages, have benefited over 165,000 participants, who say their physical and mental health have improved.

The online instruction classes and nine-day sessions started at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. It was a period when many people were forced to stay at home or were isolated. Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong, volunteers initiated the online instruction classes on LearnFalunDafa.org.

Each class includes a brief introduction to the history and background of Falun Dafa and a video of Master Li’s exercise teaching. After the class, attendees can participate in online Fa study and group exercises on Next.LearnFalunDafa.org. All classes are held by volunteers and are completely free of charge.

Even though the pandemic has ended, online classes for learning the exercises remain highly popular because they overcome geographical limitations. Anyone who has access to the internet can participate.

Discovering Peace and a Treasure

Maryana from Ukraine learned about Falun Dafa in 2023 and has practiced it since then. She says she now has inner peace and knows the meaning of life. She believes that kindness can overcome hardship. If people can follow the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, they can overcome any hardship and enjoy a bright future.

Maryana’s family moved to the countryside near Kyiv in 2019. She wished to live in a quiet environment and looked for a way to calm down. She browsed the internet in 2023, and found LearnFalunDafa.org.

She said, “It suited me. At that time I didn’t want to contact anyone, just fill myself with peace. The web page I found suggested attending a webinar to get all the information needed to start practicing. That’s how I got acquainted with Falun Dafa.

“As soon as I tried the Falun Dafa exercises, I found them very calming and simple. When I do them, I feel refreshed and relaxed. Falun Dafa’s teachings show me the principles of life and help me understand why we experience many human problems and trials.”

Maryana frequently asked herself: Why do humans exist? What is the real meaning of life? “With war, all these questions started to appear more often and depressed me. Later I was given a diagnosis—irritable bowel syndrome—together with frequent headaches, back pain, and the onset of an allergy.

“While I read Zhuan Falun (the main teaching of Falun Dafa), all my questions were answered,” she said. “I had a feeling that I stumbled on a treasure. At the same time, I started to do the Dafa exercises and didn’t even notice that all my physical problems disappeared. My mind had eventually relaxed, and questions that pressured my mind had simply dissolved. Falun Dafa really purified both my body and mind.”

Practicing Dafa During a War

“The principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance show you which areas you need to work on,” she said. “The war is a big challenge and actually a big opportunity to cultivate yourself. For example, staying calm when people are stressed and arguing. Help others when you see they need help. Don’t lie to yourself about the real motives of your actions. All these help me to become a strong and good person.”

She added, “My understanding is that kind people can overcome anything. If you don’t have bad motives, don’t hold a grudge, and can forgive others, then you do not hold bad things inside you. Then, the universe will repay you the same back.”

Her inner calm from the practice helps her and her family. “When at least one person in a group can stay stable and calm during some emergency situation, all the others will follow this person and can naturally compose themselves,” she said. “When the nights are noisy, my son comes to our bedroom. And when he sees that we aren’t panicking, he doesn’t give in to it either.

“We can have the air attacks during the day and at night as well. There’s nowhere to hide in my house, so we just have to wait until the attacks stop. We just stay home and continue with what we are doing. We need to think rationally and do what fits the current situation.”

At the Mid-Autumn Festival, Maryana said, “I thank Master for such an unbelievable opportunity he gave me to practice Falun Dafa. I hope he is happy to see that more and more people are becoming better each day.”

Practicing Dafa Is a Blessing

Over the years, the online teaching classes have received positive feedback from attendees throughout the world. Many people described their experiences of physical and mental improvement, emotional stability, increased energy, getting rid of bad habits, and gaining spiritual strength. The messages from people in different countries and backgrounds about the nine-day classes and online teaching courses also encourage volunteers to improve the courses.

One volunteer received a call from an elderly woman named Sheila from Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada, around 10 p.m. one night. She said she suffered from back pain after an accident four years ago and was unable to straighten her back, so she had to rely on crutches to walk. But after she attended the Falun Dafa class that night, her pain disappeared, and she could straighten her back. She said excitedly that she would definitely continue practicing.

I love the online classes and look forward to attending every month. I feel spiritually cleansed after watching one lecture every night. Seeing this article pop up on my Google feed today reminded me of it. Back then, not many people had the balls to openly call out the CCP for what it was doing overseas.

A disturbing investigation into China’s transplant industry raises a chilling question. how can hospitals promise organs within weeks unless a donor’s death is effectively being scheduled? Evidence reviewed by international investigators has fueled serious allegations that prisoners of conscience, including Falun Gong practitioners, were killed for their organs.

Apart from Falun Gong practitioners, the main groups named in UN and independent investigations are Uyghurs, Tibetans, Muslims, and Christians held in detention, including house-church Christians. In a 2021 communication to the Chinese government, UN human-rights experts specifically raised allegations of forced organ harvesting targeting “Falun Gong practitioners, Uyghurs, Tibetans, Muslims and Christians.

The New York State Department of Labor investigated Shen Yun for nearly two years. They looked at performer pay, working conditions and the treatment of younger performers.

The result?

No violations related to the treatment of child performers.

No violations related to working conditions or compensation.

$0 in unpaid wages.

$0 in back wages.

There were some paperwork and administrative issues, but according to Shen Yun, those have been fixed.

What I find interesting is the difference in attention this is getting.

The New York Times has published a large number of negative stories about Shen Yun over the last couple of years. Meanwhile, the Chinese Communist Party has been trying to shut down and discredit Shen Yun for years because of its connection to Falun Gong, which is persecuted in China.

There have also been reports alleging that coordinated Chinese accounts on X heavily promoted NYT stories attacking Shen Yun. That doesn't prove the NYT itself is connected to the CCP, but it certainly raises some interesting questions about how this coverage is being used and amplified.

Two Chinese nationals have pleaded guilty in the United States after attempting to act on behalf of the Chinese government in a scheme aimed at undermining Shen Yun Performing Arts, according to U.S. court proceedings and the Department of Justice. Prosecutors stated that the pair attempted to bribe what they believed was an IRS official in an effort to revoke Shen Yun's nonprofit status.

For many years, Shen Yun and Falun Gong practitioners have reported facing intimidation, surveillance, disinformation campaigns, threats, and other forms of transnational repression outside China. Recent reports have documented an escalation in such activities, including bomb threats and harassment targeting performers, theaters, and supporters.

On May 13, 2026, flags were flown over both the U.S. Capitol and the Pennsylvania State Capitol in recognition of Mr. Li Hongzhi, founder of Falun Dafa, and the 34th anniversary of Falun Dafa's public introduction.

The recognition was arranged by U.S. lawmakers and Pennsylvania state officials to commemorate World Falun Dafa Day and acknowledge the positive impact of Falun Dafa's principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.

Despite ongoing persecution in China, Falun Dafa continues to receive support and recognition from elected officials and communities worldwide.

Michael Prue, the mayor of Amherstburg, Ontario, attended a Falun Dafa Day flag-raising ceremony on April 30, 2026. According to the report, he said that after last year’s ceremony he received a threatening letter from the Chinese Consulate in Toronto telling him to stop supporting Falun Dafa.

But this year, he returned and publicly said: “I will continue to support you.”

The Town of Amherstburg also proclaimed May 13, 2026 as “Falun Dafa Day,” recognising Falun Dafa’s principles of truthfulness, compassion and tolerance, and the courage shown by practitioners facing persecution. Link

Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada from 2006 to 2015, sent greeting letters to Shen Yun over multiple years. He described Shen Yun as an exquisite presentation of classical dance and music inspired by 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture.

New York State Assemblyman Joseph Angelino issued a Legislative Citation and Certificate of Merit honoring Shen Yun’s Artistic Director and the 20th anniversary of the performing arts company.

Shen Yun Performing Arts will return to the David H. Koch Theater in New York City from March 25-April 12, 2026, with new programs for the 2026 season. Joseph Angelino, a New York State Assembly Member, recently recognized Shen Yun with a legislative citation honoring Shen Yun’s Artistic Director, and a certificate of merit congratulating the performing arts company on its 20th anniversary and return to Lincoln Center.

Assemblyman Joseph Angelino wrote in his citation,

“This Legislative Citation is presented to Mr. D. F., Founder and Artistic Director of the Shen Yun Performing Arts in appreciation of his visionary leadership, artistic excellence, and dedication to universal human values through the founding and artistic direction of Shen Yun Performing Arts; and

“Whereas, through the power of the performing arts, Mr. D. F. has shared the values of truthfulness, compassion, resilience, and cultural heritage, inspiring audiences worldwide and fostering understanding, dignity, and harmony across cultures; and

“Whereas, presented in celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Shen Yun Performing Arts and its 2026 World Tour return to Lincoln Center, New York this recognition honors a legacy of artistry and moral strength that continues to enrich communities and uplift the human spirit; and be it further

“Resolved, that a copy of this Citation, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Mr. D. F., Founder and Artistic Director of the Shen Yun Performing Arts.”

Mr. D.F. serves not only as the company’s artistic and creative director, but also as costume designer and instructor of classical Chinese dance. Furthermore, he has composed a vast body of orchestral and vocal works for the original programs produced by Shen Yun. His works embody the spirit of 5,000 years of Chinese civilization, deeply captivating audiences around the globe. He has mastered the authentic bel canto vocal technique—a method long considered lost—and also serves as a Distinguished Professor of Music and Dance at Fei Tian College in the United States.

Congratulations on 20 Years of Performances

In the Certificate of Merit issued for Shen Yun, Assemblyman Angelino wrote, “The Assembly of the State of New York, in recognition of the achievement of 20th Anniversary of the Shen Yun Performing Arts and return to the David H. Koch Theater March 25th to April 12th, 2026, hereby presents this Certificate of Merit.”

Shen Yun will bring 18 performances to the David H. Koch Theater in New York City from late March through mid-April of this year. Shen Yun’s Lincoln Center performances draw large audiences every season, who enjoy and appreciate the traditional values presented by the company.
