NGL GameStop kinda set me up for success
So I’m a very busy guy but I like collecting pokemon cards. After GameStop raised their rates no one wanted to buy AH ETBs at $95 (for pro members) I basically could get as many as I wanted even with my busy work schedule.
I have about 50 AH ETBs right now fully sealed and in storage and everyone just laughed (people in my local FB group) when I told people to buy them at $95, now those same people are messaging me asking to buy them at $160 each.
Exact same thing happens with the Team Moltres UPC bought 10 at $130 during Black Friday and same thing no one wanted them because they thought it was a massive rip off. Don’t get me wrong I wouldn’t buy PO, chaos rising, or pitch black from GameStop but I sure as heck will be there when the 30 anniversary comes out.
Edit: sorry y’all never expected this post to blow up so I haven’t been replying to a lot of comments.
My exit strategy is long term I will use the poke funds to turn my land into an Airbnb resort.
I don’t get the hate with investing in pokemon, I have probably $15,000 in singles that have all been paid for by the profits of when I sell sealed product, I’ve gone on so many vacations with my family through Pokemon as well. Pokemon investing wont get me to retirement but it’s helped me enjoy other luxuries.
Props to anyone who can get things at retail I haven’t been able to do so in a long time so congrats to those that can
