in this economy, recent listings are tempting me to sell. I understand they were 10s and likely involved money laundering. Would I even have a chance of making anything worthwhile off of this card?

Make it make sense.

I still can’t comprehend why a PSA9 is lower in value than a raw card.

How can I buy a PSA9. Crack it and make the card go up in value.

Make it make sense… 😂

Portfolio Advice (Longterm)

Hey guys! This will be the 3rd, and hopefully final time I post my portfolio in this forum. Either way, I’ll share where I’m at. Interested to hear any and all perspectives and opinions.

I have attached my top cards in my portfolio above, but there’s a few important things to note.

  1. The only gold star that I ACTUALLY have graded, is the Registeel PSA9. The others are just labeled as what I EXPECT them to get. I’ve attached photos as well. I plan to grade them down the line, after maybe getting restoration looked at.

  2. I expect the CD Promos to all grade (Hopefully) as at LEAST 8+s, with my expectation being 9s/one 10.

  3. If you looked at my previous posts in here on my profile, I got clowned for not “holding sealed,” I personally don’t enjoy holding sealed, I enjoy cards.

What’re your thoughts? I started transitioning a lot of my other cards into gold stars, as once I got my first two, I fell in love and (might’ve) went a bit overboard catching the ones I have.

I am 22 years old currently, and plan to hold most of the bigger cards pictured (Gold Stars, CD Promos) until I’m in my 40s.

If you had to pick some cards to hold for the next 18 years, would your strategy be similar to mine? Or different? Why?

I stored these XY - Sun & Moon boxes away in a closet for 5 years ✨

With how overly hyped the 25th anniversary was of Pokemon in 2021 I had some doubts about the speed of growth for sets to appreciate in a 5 year span, and most of these boxes were $300-$650 .. none of them I bought for close to $1k at all, and most people really called me dumb for not traditionally investing. But I was really just collecting what I enjoyed and I think it was the better choice 🔥

What would you sell to invest in Prismatic?

Hey all,

Cautious I don’t have ANY prismatic, barring 2 bundles I grabbed from PKC last week..

I don’t want to spend anymore for a little while so my only option is to sell a few bits to buy a position in Pris.

What would you sell?
What would you buy?

I’d quite like 3-5K moved into Prismatic if possible, I’m thinking:
- Bundle Display
- 2 SPCS
- 4 PKC ETB
- Rest in regular ETBs

Recently purchased PSA 9 Gold Star Flareon for $3,800

After a month of authentication + vaulting and unvaulting, I finally received it. Very happy to have my first gold star and in a PSA 9. At the time felt like a bit of overpay, but I justified it given how minty this is compared to other recent solds. Prices have only gone up since I bought it, seemed to have timed it well. Going to hold for the longterm

Warning: Cert #119749695 Chinese SV-P Mew EX PSA 10 potentially being used in coordinated fake eBay sales to manipulate comps. 3 different sellers, same slab, all "sold" in the last week

Heads up to anyone tracking the Chinese SV-P Mew EX PSA 10 market.

I found three separate eBay listings all using the exact same PSA cert number (119749695) and identical slab photos, sold by three different accounts within the last week at prices ranging from ~$1,900 to ~$4,600. Real PSA 10s are trading at $60-70K right now. PSA 9s alone are around $20K.

This looks like a coordinated comp manipulation scheme, maybe its fake transactions using a stolen cert image to flood eBay's sold history with artificially low comps?

See the attached screenshots for the 3 sold listing.

Sellers involved: soreilly-2012, pablo.1234, charleokede_0

If you're buying or selling this card, do not anchor to any recent eBay sold comps without verifying the cert number independently on PSA's registry. Report these listings to eBay directly.

Stay safe out there.

How do we display/store our collection at home?

Been slowly building up a small Pokémon collection (mix of raw and graded slabs), and some other card collectables and I’m at the point where it’s outgrown the shoebox-under-the-bed phase. Trying to figure out how to actually display it without turning my room into a museum gift shop.

Curious what everyone’s actually using:

•	How do you display graded slabs (shelves, cabinets etc)?
•	Do you worry about security at all (theft, kids, pets knocking stuff over)?
•	What’s the one thing about your current setup that annoys you the most or that you love the most, if anything?

Would love to see pics of your setups too if you’re willing to share. Trying to get ideas before I commit to buying/building something!

Get ready for disappointment or paying insane prices for the 30th

The 30th anniversary products are already going for 1000 times retail. Good luck everyone lmao.

Edit. Im not saying to pay these prices because they will drop like crazy, i was simply stating ive never seen prerelease prices so pumped. Just check with your local bestbuy if they are getting stock and camp out for release day.

10k to rebuild your pokemon collection. What are you investing in?

I missed out on buying the chinese exclusive gengar in a 10 a couple months ago at it's low, and now I can't stop thinking about it. How badly did I fumble? What are easy value plays that you know are undervalued but will see a return in the next 3 years? Short timeline, goal is to beat 20% YOY.

Good Groudon pick up?

With Mega Rayquaza being announced and prices of rayquazas all booming wondering if this Groudon would be a good pick up in anticipation for potentially a primal Groudon/Kyogre set being announced in the near future? This card looks amazing to me and seems to be heavily underrated, it has that amazing cracked ice holographic, Low Pop only 88 in a PSA 10 for the 1st edition, and its vintage coming from starter decks instead of being pulled from packs.

New cert First ED Shining Gyarados value?

I recently came across some old cards in my closet a friend told me to grade them and this is what I got back, saw online numbers everywhere but I guess new certs are worth more? What do you think? Help Reddit!!

Thoughts on this card long-term?

I know that Rayquaza, Umbreon and Charizard are the holy trinity of gold stars, but what’s the future like for Groudon? If you guys were in my shoes, would you trade this beauty for something more modern, like let’s say tag team or modern grails like the moonbreon?

How many people have 70-100% of their net worth in cardboard?

A post from earlier got me thinking. How many vendors or collectors have most of their capital tied up in cards? At what point do you diversify into real estate and stocks?
