House Flies

Has anyone else had a house fly problem the last couple of months? I've lived in my house almost 30 years and NEVER had this issue. These are house flies, not fruit flies. They seem to get in mid to late afternoon and hang around (unless the fly swatter gets them) to around dinner time. Sometimes they seem to get in 2 or 3 at a time. I do have a few days where I do not see any but it's more the exception than the rule lately.

Unlike ants it much harder to find out where they are coming in from. I've started to use the rubber stopper in the kitchen sink but they also might be coming through the vents in the house. I've set up a apple cider vinegar/dish soap solution as well as putting up some fly ribbons and window sticky's in and out of the house but they haven't caught anything. Door/windows are sealed well.

A couple of my neighbors have had the same issue so I'm not alone. Actually was out in Monrovia yesterday and the person we were visiting said she also has had the same issue so don't know how widespread this is. Climate change?

Just curious if others have experienced a similar situation and if so have any good remedies.

What does Santa Clarita/Canyon Country have too much of?

I'll start

  1. Coffee shops (especially Starbucks)

  2. Car washes

  3. Storage facilities

  4. Vet offices

What other things belong on this list?

Dutch Brothers Parking Nightmare

Just when you think the new location can't get any worse, it does. So this morning me and the wife must have seen 40 cars parked in the dirt lot across the street from Dutch Brothers. Seriously, 40 cars. So they now want young kids and senior citizens to cross that busy street to get to DB? Seriously? You talk about an accident (with follow up lawsuits) just waiting to happen

The whole purpose of a drive thru is just that, get you coffee (or food) and move on. You are basically "forcing" folks to bypass one of the reasons they stop there in the first place. Yes, I know it's their decision whether to stop or not.

I think everyone agrees that the location is HORRIBLE. Poor McDonald's, all the staff there can do is watch from their windows people pouting into (and out of) DB, Ronald McDonald is not a happy camper at least at that location.

Will the lines ever calm down? So far the answer is a resounding NO.
