25K Companion Award: "Partially used Global Companion Award discounts are forfeited with cancellation."?
I booked a 12.5K miles award flight and also used my 25K companion award (from the Summit card) on the reservation to book a seat for my wife. Now, I want to cancel this trip but I am getting mixed signal as to whether my 25K companion award will be reinstated or just lost.
When I go to cancel, it reads at the bottom:

>Partially used Global Companion Award discounts are forfeited with cancellation.
For sure, my Companion award is not expired. But I am confused by the 'partially used' thing. If I cancel, I did not use it, right? I get a 25K companion back even if I had it applied only partially since it was a 12.5K trip?
I did check with CS and I got 2 different answers. One was "yep, you get it back". Then the next was "Nope, it would be lost". Thoroughly confusing. Anyone has experience with such a cancelation? Thanks.
EDIT: I went ahead and canceled the reservation. It did reinstate the 25K companion award.
