Lost Naruto Fic — Female Naruto, Hidden Uzumaki District, Living Mito, Senju Twins with Mokuton, Gaara lived secretly in Konoha before canon
I'm looking for a long Naruto fanfiction that I read on Ficbook before 2021. The story was unfinished at the time.
Key details:
• The protagonist is a self-insert/reincarnated person in young Sakura Haruno. • Sakura keeps her reincarnation a secret. • There was no system, goddess, deity, gamer interface, or similar mechanic as far as I remember. • Naruto is female from birth. • She keeps the name Naruto. • Naruto has red hair. • Despite being female, she still wears her iconic baggy orange outfit. • Naruto befriends Kurama very early in the story. • Naruto and Sakura begin studying fuinjutsu/sealing arts from a young age.
Hidden Uzumaki district:
There is a secret Uzumaki district hidden somewhere inside Konoha.
The entire district is concealed by extremely powerful seals and illusion barriers.
Ordinary villagers cannot perceive it.
Young Naruto can see through the concealment.
Naruto and Sakura discover the district while still children.
Inside they find a living Mito Uzumaki.
She is physically alive, not a ghost, not Edo Tensei, and not merely a sealed spirit.
Also living there are three Senju children:
• an original female Senju character (about a year older than Naruto and Sakura); • two older twin brothers; • both twins possess Mokuton/Wood Release.
Gaara subplot:
This is one of the most distinctive parts of the story.
Gaara meets the girls long before the Chunin Exams.
As a child he runs away (or temporarily leaves) Sunagakure.
Assassins or pursuers are hunting him.
He eventually reaches the hidden Uzumaki district.
Mito Uzumaki, Naruto, Sakura, and the Senju children help him.
Gaara secretly lives in the district for several months.
As far as I remember, neither the Hokage nor the rest of Konoha know he is there.
Mito may strengthen or improve Gaara's Shukaku seal.
Eventually Gaara returns to Suna.
He never reveals the existence of the hidden Uzumaki district, Mito, or the girls.
Academy period:
Naruto and Sakura deliberately hide their true abilities.
They avoid showing their full potential.
Later they create highly advanced shadow clones.
These clones attend the Academy in their place.
Meanwhile the real Naruto and Sakura pursue other activities and eventually travel.
Journey arc:
Long after Gaara leaves, Naruto, Sakura, and the Senju girl go on a journey.
I specifically remember an arc in the Land of Iron.
The Senju girl obtains some sort of rare reinforced fabric/material there.
Another memorable scene:
Because the journey takes longer than expected, Naruto's and Sakura's Academy shadow clones create additional clones and then disperse, sending memories back to the originals.
After this event, the clones' maximum lifespan is reduced from roughly two weeks to one week.
Relationships:
• I believe there was a planned or developing Naruto (female)/Sasuke pairing. • Gaara falls in love with the original female Senju character. • She eventually returns his feelings.
Chunin Exam arc:
By the time Gaara arrives in Konoha for the Chunin Exams, he has already known Naruto and Sakura for years, but nobody else is aware of this connection.
I very clearly remember a scene where Gaara gives the girls handmade ribbon flower kanzashi (traditional Japanese hair ornaments).
During the Konoha invasion, the Senju twin brothers secretly participate in the fighting and help defend the village.
Additional detail:
I vaguely remember that the Uchiha clan was either not massacred at all or was only partially wiped out, making the situation very different from canon.
