Bittersweet 16
My oldest is turning 16 this year. Middle of the break for Xmas and New Years. It's always been difficult timing for parties bc of ppl being away with family/events anyway.
We live in rural eastern PA, think horse n buggy down the road, fields for miles. Not only is my lgbtqia kiddo super punky n alt in style, music, politics; but we've got estrangement issues with family. To top it off, they are recovering from mental health struggles, so this birthday is even more significant bc they werent planning to have one. Small friend group, cant really mix found family w/the dysfunctional semi-estranged real one. Maybe in a neutral setting it might work.
And Im in dire need of ideas for venues.
Interests are metal, vocaloid, alt indie performers like the Mtn Goats, Penelope Scott, Mitski; platformer style vg's, anime like BSD, generally things w/dark psychological themes not full-on goth vibes, but not classic gore style horror vibes either. Zany, random and quirky personality. Not averse to colorful stuff, just more as an accent to darker palette.
Its like I have so much to go with, but so little as well bc of location, demographics, and niche interests. They are also coming up blank- I've asked.
