Recently watched Kandukondain Kandukondain again, and I can’t stop thinking about how beautifully Tamil cinema writes certain “elder sister” characters.
There’s this quiet grace and emotional maturity to them that lingers long after the film ends. Not loud, not dramatic just deeply human.
The same feeling hit me while watching Alaipayuthey too. The elder sister characters in these films feel so warm, grounded, restrained, and real. They almost carry the emotional soul of the movie.
Maybe it’s the way they love, sacrifice, observe, or simply exist within the family dynamic but these characters always stay with me more than I expect them to.
