I miss this when everyone used to troll each other in movies

I remember the simbu -dhanush movies where digs were taken , or maybe in other movies where actors used to troll themselves or other movies or their own movies through dialogues

I believe friendly digs or mocking used to happen

Vere yethavathu Nyabakam vandhacha? This is the only i remember

If yes please suggest

Karuppu x Vijay

I've been seeing lots of posts saying "Karuppu is a vijay movie without vijay" kind of posts and comments vehemently opposing this claim insisting that vijay could never pull off that role. I agree that among their contemporaries, suriya and vikram are the most versatile actors but I completely disagree with the fact that vijay is a mediocre actor. My take is that Vijay didn't choose unique scripts but that doesn't mean that he's not capable of delivering. There is not one role which vijay has taken up n done poorly. In theri in itself, I enjoyed the shades of Vijayakumar/joseph kuruvilla/"ghost vijay". The villain character in azhagiya tamizh magan was over the top but ig that's what they were aiming for. Hell, I even enjoyed the character sanjay in goat. Karthi, mersal, the list goes on. There are actors who get overshadowed by the comedian in their own movies and the comedian has to carry the movie which is definitely not the case with vijay. Keeping in mind vetrimaran and the tiny Thirupachi vadham portion, i would have loved to see vijay in karuppu. In conclusion, does Vijay's script selection follow a strict formula? Yes. But does that mean he can't act? Definitely not.

[Heavy Spoilers] Arachne, Icarus, Sisyphus and Baby Kannan - a successful Greek story on the act of Hubris..

..but an unsuccessful switch of plot in the second half. The initial premise of the movie was quite good and actually grounded. Where a mortal challenges god on the terms of the mortal world and God actually failing to prove the mortal wrong.

But as we approach the interval of the movie, it basically becomes a story from Greek mythology where seeing a god actually fails and throws a hissyfit by using his powers. How is that fair? It's the same failings of Greek mythology where when you are younger you are told these mortals got punished because they were "prideful", but once you grow older, you just understand that people will power cannot accept a loss and all these stories just depict that. Pride was never the issue, a powerful being will never accept a loss. That's the story of Karuppu.

This is me being very respectful. Had the movie shown the second case also being handled without any power or miracles, the message of the movie would have been stronger. But the ultimate reliance of miracles and fears just makes the movie a questionable mockery of human excellence against supernatural occurance. No wonder the audience is actually divided on this movie. It's however a much better movie for Suriya after Retro.

Why suriya is called “The One”

Second time seeing his intro name tagged as “The One”. First was Retro and now in Karupu movie. Can anyone enlighten me on this? I’m just curious. No bad intentions

Understood a life-lesson while coming across this reel...Credits"suraj____fx___4K"

Came across this reel in the middle of watching KKRvsMI match (honestly hoping all things turn in favour of CSK as a RCB fan) alright coming back.....

Despite the backlash the guy(Ken) received for the casting choices for female leads and also criticised for repetitive themes done in previous films...there was this one thing which hit my mind...WE CAN JUST DO ANYTHING WHICH PLEASES US IF WE HAVE THE CUSHION OF MONEY , POWER , FAME , BACKING...yes that's right...

Life is a thin line between having possession of power you desire and continuously aiming for what he/she needs . This is what power can do .

On the way as I type the body content for this post I feel a bit weird for using an entertaining film's content above for venting out my thoughts..

Getting to choose your female leads , music director , various artists , writing story-screenplay...YES I am a bit jealous of him and at the same time I realise that

"WE AREN'T UGLY(in wealth , power , fame ) BUT JUST POOR (in abilities)

Is Ajith the Man of Comebacks?

He had a rough run in 1997 and gave a comeback with Kaadhal Mannan. He had a dry run during the mid 2000s starting with Anjaneya and gave a Varalaaru at the end of 2006. Following Billa, he had two flops Aegan and Asal yet he gave Mankatha. What do you think?

We found Tamil beauty in Hollywood before Kollywood

Kollywood owes Tamil girls a massive apology honestly.

Coz why did an entire generation of us grow up feeling like we’re “not pretty enough” simply for looking… Tamil?!

Tamil men in cinema can be dark, older, rugged, have dad bods, look fully local.. & still become superstars. But women? Suddenly the heroine has to be fair, flawless, North-coded and look like she’s never seen Chennai summer in her life 🤷‍♀️

And don’t say “it’s just cinema” because that nonsense genuinely affected real life.

My sister used to get called “Karuppu Tamannaah”, “Karuppu Shreya” by local boys growing up. Not in a cute way. In a degrading “you’re pretty for a dark girl” way. Meanwhile these same dudes proudly compared themselves to Rajini and Vijay Sethupathi.

The misogyny + colourism combo in Tamil society needs to be studied actually!

And the saddest part? So many Tamil girls grew up internalising this. Watching heroines on screen and subconsciously understanding main character energy belongs to fair girls only 🥹

But look at the world now.

We’re literally in the era of Tamil baddies going global.

Simone Ashley dominating Hollywood.
Maitreyi Ramakrishnan becoming a global Gen Z icon.
Lara Raj getting attention internationally.

The world is finally appreciating brown girls, sharp Tamil features, melanin, ethnic beauty while Kollywood is still acting like Tamil women are not heroine material in Tamil cinema itself 💀

Like pls be serious.

Older Tamil movies at least had women who felt REAL. Actresses like Radha and Saritha looked like actual women from our homes, streets, families. That relatability is gone now.

Now every “ponnu next door” looks like she came straight from an airport ad.

Beauty ≠ fairness.

And honestly Tamil girls deserve better than growing up in a culture where they have to look outside Tamil cinema to feel beautiful.

Karuppu’s success story…

Karuppu has become a decent hit due to a certain toxic fanbase and a PR agency is busy with political memes and propaganda.

Just saying…
