Shitbox 100 update: 10 days of ownership and have exceeded my $1k/yr maintenance goal

Planning to do VCG and replace fuel sender/pump and filter. Realized I need to plan timing belt based on age alone (10 years)

Much to my wife's chagrin, I bought the cheapest/ugliest 100 series I could find.

1999 Landcruiser

333,000 miles

Paid $5500

Purchased from flipper so largely unknown maintenance history. No rust.

For some reason the previous owner Plastidip coated the entire exterior. It looks much worse in person.

Interior is far from the worst I've seen, front seats were reupholstered at some point.

Known issues - fuel gauge stuck on E (need to troubleshoot fuel sender and wiring), rear diff lock not engaging, valve cover leaks. Also missing 3rd row seat and one 3rd row seat belt (holler if you're in the PNW and have a 3rd row for sale).

Use case is family road/camping/ski trips, likely less than a few thousand miles per year (not a daily) . Graduating from a 3rd gen 4runner. I really wanted an 04-07 LC100 and have been looking over a year, but couldn't justify the prices.

Will be budgeting ~$1k per year for maintenance and plan to DIY to keep costs down, so I'll be familiarizing with Mud forums.

Let's see how this questionable decision pans out.
