Clunk When Shifting Between R & D 100 Series
Recently picked up a 2000 100 series. Dumped 5k into refreshing everything.
One issue I have is when shifting between R and D there is a noticeable, single clunk. I have read that can be U Joints.
How big of a deal is this? Can I just let it roll or do I need to dump more money? I just want to drive it!
Warn!
The front end looked goofy and “empty” until I mounted this. Need to figure out wiring and spool the rope on!
Seatbelts are the next update….
Rock slider angle and top plates?
Currently ordering White knuckle off road sliders for my LC100. I like the look of 15 more but am wondering is it worth getting top plates for them or are they useless at 15 degrees?
Value Guestimate
Im trying to get a ballpark estimate on value for my 1980 bj40 (diesel fj)
On fjco aluminum wheels with oem caps 255/95/16
Hidden modern door lock and unlock with a security system
Old man emu lift and leafs
And a ton of brand new oem parts like front bumper, mirrors, trim, and even brand new old stock warn hubs
How bad is this rust? 2000 LC 215k miles. Any advice appreciated!

My first cruiser!

works done so far:
5 new A/T Kuhmos
relay rod
steering dampener
front tail shaft
rear tail shaft
drive train oils
rotors and pads
drums and shoes
hubs regreased
rear brake valve
Alignment, oil and coolant
underbody rust repair and respray
Still needs some body rust repair, glow plug lights going off at me, and the bull bar has a nice kangaroo sized dent in it but otherwise pretty clean.
Any advice on the body work would be appreciated, doing as much as i can myself to keep costs low and never done anything like it before.
Thanks!
So many pitfalls for simple projects. Any ideas on how to get the remainder of this bolt out? I was torquing it when it snapped so it’s in there pretty good. Don’t have access to a welder.
New to me 100 series Cruise
I recently sold my classic Bronco and have always had a love for Land Cruisers. Long before the Bronco, I purchased a 72 FJ40 and the thought of getting another cruiser has lingered in my mind. Fast forward to last weekend, I picked up this 2000 Land Cruiser that had lots of offroad goodies already on it. Theres lots of work to be done, but I'm really excited to get it fixed up and take it on some adventures with the family this summer!
One thing I didn't realize is that parts are becoming harder to get my hands on like door panels and interior trim pieces. 1st Gen Broncos have lots of parts available nowadays, so hopefully more of these parts I'm looking for will be reproduced at some point. Anyways, glad to be apart of this community and thank you to the people so far who have answered my questions.
LC 100 series (05)
There probably have been many conversations but I see no solutions. Anyone do similar mods to their LC's? I know someone is working on it and I signed up for the list. But I havent seen any other options. I just love this setup I found. Looks like the earlier models of the LC/LX470
How bad is this rust? 2005 LC 260k miles
I don't know how to judge how bad this rust is so any help would be great
added a snorkel to my landcruiser for deeper water crossings what next
protection for creek crossings on outback trips without risking the engine. the stock setup was fine for light stuff but i needed something more reliable for deeper water.
i got a snorkel kit from road runner offroad and it went on clean with good fit for the model. now the truck feels more capable but im wondering about any extra maintenance or tweaks needed after install.
what snorkel setups worked on your landcruisers and did you notice any changes in performance or things to watch for on long trips? any tips would help.
Looking at buying this LC71 from an auction in the Middle East — what should I inspect/watch out for?
Hey everyone,
I found this Toyota Land Cruiser 71 (70 Series short wheelbase hardtop) at an auction here in the Middle East and I’m considering buying it, but I honestly don’t know much about the condition yet besides the photos and basic info.
The car has around 91k km on it, but since it’s an auction car I have no idea how it was treated, maintained, or abused before.
I wanted to ask people here who know these trucks well:
What are the biggest things I should inspect before buying?
Specifically:
- Common hidden problems on LC71s?
- What usually fails first on these?
- Any engine or gearbox issues to look out for?
- How can I tell if it’s been heavily off-roaded/desert abused?
- What suspension/chassis/frame issues should I check?
- Any signs of diff or transfer case problems?
- What should I listen for during startup/test drive?
- Are there common electrical issues?
- How bad is fuel economy in real life?
- Is 91k km considered low or should I still expect major maintenance?
- How reliable are these as daily drivers in the GCC?
- Are parts easy and cheap to get in the Middle East?
- Anything specific I should check underneath the car?
Also from the photos, does anything stand out to you guys visually? Good or bad?
I’m mainly looking for something reliable, simple, durable, and good for everyday use but I don’t want to accidentally buy a neglected auction nightmare.
Would you guys buy one like this?
Thanks in advance.🫶🏻
LC100, 06’ - Can anyone identify the part number of this missing cover?
Located on the second row center seat between the passenger-side seat.
I’d like to replace it.
Thanks for your help!
