Boz Scaggs Silk Degrees 1976 AL 33920-1J

Joe Wissert wrangled this whole session at Sunset Sound with half the guys who would soon form Toto, and the resulting groove is so damn slick it practically slides off the turntable.
That opening bass line on Lowdown does not just sit in the mix l, it struts right down the middle of the room with absolute authority. It is glossy pop-funk crafted by studio lifers who knew every trick in the book and played every single note with ice in their veins. -Gatefold.fm’s The Clerk Says. It is what it is. 70s white guy yacht poprock

Special Day for Me

Bootleg from Poland. I think I genuinely like each version of BF about the same minus the MV era.

Sweeney Song

I was attempting to find the title of a song of his where he says roughly “ fuck this fuck that….said fuck 7 times so fucking what”. That didn’t glean the result I was looking for and found this instead. Who hip to this 2013 track?

The 1981 Connection
The Fateful Show: In March 1981, future Beastie Boys members Mike D, MCA, and future frontman Ad-Rock (along with Henry Rollins and Thurston Moore) were all separately in the audience at New York's Peppermint Lounge for Black Flag's first-ever East Coast show.

Inspiration: Witnessing that raw hardcore performance inspired the future Beastie Boys members to form their own punk band (initially called The Young Aborigines) before shifting to rap.

Later 1990s Connection
Tours with Rollins: While they never played with Black Flag, the Beastie Boys did tour and perform alongside the Rollins Band (fronted by former Black Flag singer Henry Rollins) during their 1992 Check Your Head tour.
