Looking for new and obscure punk bands
I’m fairly new to punk and like the different subcategories. I’m looking for Oi! Punk bands. Thanks in advance.

Other than the Minutemen and post punk bands like This Heat, The Pop Group, Mission of Burma and Gang of Four...etc what other 80's punk bands showcased the talent NoMeansNO showcased?
Cross posting doesn’t work.
Saw Off with their Heads on Sunday, with Mermaid Island and Dillenger Four. Going to both nights of Fat's 35 yr shows, and that's it. They are closing at the end of the year.
Free download of The Dicks - Kill From The Heart reissue from Superior Viaduct. Passing it along so more people can enjoy this important anti-fascist band. Remember, Dicks hate police, and so should you!
You can't find justice, it'll find you. Yeah, it'll find you
Saw this being done and wanted to see what this sub thought. Post your favorite Punk songs in the comments.

Anyone know if any punk or ska bands will be playing near there one of those days? I don't know the area at all so I don't which venues to look for. Any cool record stores or anything to check out?
Just found out about these posers. A racist white South African band,go figure. They are currently on tour, not coming to my city but have a few shows in New York and Chicago. Keep an eye out! Racism in all forms is a blight. This is just boomer fox news levels of crazy dressed up.
*EDIT/UPDATE: Chicago show was cancelled! good on ya! they have only a few shows left in the states before starting a massive European tour
Hey hey comrades, I'm dragging Brendan Kelly onto /punk to talk about his shows with Laura Jane Grace and then some more shows with Mad Caddies. Starts in a few days! He's calling it the SUMMER OF BEEX and has the tacky shirt designs to prove it. Yes, Brendan is the guy from The Lawrence Arms, Slapstick, The Falcon, etc., but let's stay on topic! These are solo acoustic sets where he plays everything from all his projects. It's his first time ever in Maine! EXCITING. Here's the dates:
8/22 - Lancaster, PA @ Ask a punk!
8/22 - Garwood, NJ @ Crossroads
8/23 - Stroudsburg, PA @ The Goat
8/24 - OFF
8/25 - Portland, ME @ Blue
8/26 - Northampton, MA @ Iron Horse
8/27 - Northampton, MA @ Iron Horse
8/28 - Rutherford, NJ @ Williams Center
8/29 - Lowell, MA @ Taffeta Music Hall
8/20 - Brooklyn, NY @ Brooklyn Bowl

One of the most formative bands of my life is They Might Be Giants. I just scored three floor level center tickets to see them in Milwaukee with my kid. I mentioned to somebody's we were going, and one of them said "that's punk as fuck!"
I've heard folks call them punk before. Each time I'm conflicted. While they strike me as underdog non-conformists who are highly experimental and don't give a fuck about formulas, if I'm calling them punk as a genre of music, it doesn't work for me. Philosophically, I guess it fits. I've never been one for hard and fast labels, but I'm curious as to what you guys think. If someone asks you what kind of music they do, would you include punk as one of the genres or not?
We filmed a music video for our new songs “Quicksand” at the restaurant that inspired the Krusty Krab. Give it a watch!
The 1981 Connection
The Fateful Show: In March 1981, future Beastie Boys members Mike D, MCA, and future frontman Ad-Rock (along with Henry Rollins and Thurston Moore) were all separately in the audience at New York's Peppermint Lounge for Black Flag's first-ever East Coast show.
Inspiration: Witnessing that raw hardcore performance inspired the future Beastie Boys members to form their own punk band (initially called The Young Aborigines) before shifting to rap.
Later 1990s Connection
Tours with Rollins: While they never played with Black Flag, the Beastie Boys did tour and perform alongside the Rollins Band (fronted by former Black Flag singer Henry Rollins) during their 1992 Check Your Head tour.
Trying to learn spanish and I feel it would help to listen to music sung in that language, figured it would also be a good opporunity to expand my library of punk music I listen to lol
I already listen to Union 13, Los Blenders, and Los Crudos ...so who else can I add to that list? (Preferably with a mexican dialect as thats the type of spanish Im learning, but Ill down for any band really)
Picked this up a while back: "I Swear I Stayed for the Encore E.P.," a bootleg on a fake Chiswick label, of the Sex Pistols' June 4th, 1976 show at Manchester's Lesser Free Trade Hall. Never been able to pin down when or where it was actually pressed. Anyone recognize it or have a lead on dating it?
For context on why the gig matters: it's the show credited with kickstarting Manchester's post-punk scene. Joy Division, Buzzcocks, The Fall, The Smiths and a chunk of Factory Records all trace back to people allegedly in that room. Wrote up more on the gig and the full attendee list here if you want the background: https://www.thesenseofdoubt.com/blogs/archive/the-gig-nobody-agrees-on-sex-pistols-at-the-lesser-free-trade-hall-1976
Mostly posting for the record though. Curious if anyone here can help place this pressing or have a similar version.
Edit: SOLVED! …I posted photo in the replies.
Just need title of comp, and possibly photos of the front and back for song list.
I feel like the cover was mostly green and white with a rough drawling of a cow.
There’s one song I remember, but don’t know who’s it’s by and I believe it’s called “Let Me In” about being bored and finding a bar with a band playing inside and the bouncer won’t let you in because he doesn’t think you’re old enough.
Lyrics to me recollection are:
Running around late last night
I was feeling real uptight
In this town there’s nothing to do
I’ll just go home any watch the tube
On the way home I saw a band
That was playing in (at) the west end
[unknown portion of lyrics]
But at the door there stood a man
Who wouldn’t let me in
LET ME IN, I swear I’m old enough.
I didn’t think it would be this tough
To see a show in my hometown
….
That’s all I got.. please help!
