New footage released by COPA in April 2026 shows Officer Carlos Baker shooting partner Krystal Rivera in Illinois. The video captures the apartment breach where Baker pivots and fires toward Rivera instead of the suspect door. Footage confirms Baker then retreated to a stairwell for 1 minute and 57 seconds while reporting that police were under fire, despite a clear hallway. Ballistics confirmed the fatal shot came from Baker's service weapon. Baker was stripped of police powers in August 2025 and remains the subject of a wrongful death lawsuit.

My wife found this weird police token on the ground.

I think the rhetoric on the skull side is icky. But, what is it exactly? An award? A little badge of honor? Is it something police give to civilians who do something special?

Oh, apparently it's gold plated?

Auburn PD officer arrested for immoral communications with a minor

Other places report it was Officer Matt McNabb. There are two M. McNabb’s in the department. His brother Mike McNabb is a detective in APD who works cases of sex crimes against children. There is no evidence he or other members of the department were aware of Officer McNabb’s actions. Officer McNabb was recently featured in the media for adopting Zeus, a German Shepherd puppy he rescued.

We need to stop saying “actually I side with the cop here”

Every time I see a post about a cop using a firearm or beating up someone, plenty of comments are quick to excuse it by saying “actually the cop had to do this”.

Doesn’t matter how unreasonable or “annoying” a person is, you signed up for a job that requires you to deal with these people. Cops are supposed to have a level of self control when making arrests, cops are supposed to be more stoic than the average person and not motivated by emotions.

Lastly, cops never give us the benefit of the doubt, why should we give them any of that same grace. A cop hears that two guys are fist fighting and they hammer them with random charges, bullshit or not, but when we hear about a cop beating someone within an inch of their lives we’re supposed to look at all the circumstances and come to any sort of conclusion that sides with the person who is beating someone who’s hands are cuffed.
