Snagged this from the thrift today, is this an original late 80s release?

I grabbed this today, and it's still sealed!

I don't think this is an original release, but the only thing that makes me think it might be an older release is how old the target sticker looks on the back!

Any info is appreciated!

2 in the mail,2 in the crate

The 1981 Connection
The Fateful Show: In March 1981, future Beastie Boys members Mike D, MCA, and future frontman Ad-Rock (along with Henry Rollins and Thurston Moore) were all separately in the audience at New York's Peppermint Lounge for Black Flag's first-ever East Coast show.

Inspiration: Witnessing that raw hardcore performance inspired the future Beastie Boys members to form their own punk band (initially called The Young Aborigines) before shifting to rap.

Later 1990s Connection
Tours with Rollins: While they never played with Black Flag, the Beastie Boys did tour and perform alongside the Rollins Band (fronted by former Black Flag singer Henry Rollins) during their 1992 Check Your Head tour.

Favorite Beastie Boy?

We all love the Beastie Boys, but do you have a favorite among the three members?

One you always liked just a little more than the others?

Personally, I have always been into Mike D.

I’ve always loved Mike D’s laid-back, humorous and slightly dry and ironic delivery, especially compared to MCA’s deeper voice and Ad-Rock’s more animated style. Plus, he was the bands hardcore vocalist, and I’ve always loved their Hardcore tracks.

Album review: Mike D will release Thank You this month

On August 24, Michael “Mike D” Diamond will release his first official solo album, and the first new music—aside from a guest appearance—from a member of the Beastie Boys since the legendary trio’s 2011 release Hot Sauce Comittee Part 2. It’s been 15 years since the group met its untimely end.  The untimely passing of Adam “MCA” Yauch forced the remaining two members into a seemingly permanent musical hiatus...

Daydreaming Post on A Beastie Boys / Bikini Kill Co-Headliner fest

Ok, hear me out. A Beastie Boys reunion co-heading Bikini Kill fest is kinda what we all need right now.

With Mike D on tour with his new solo album, Kathleen Hanna collaborating a song with Ad Rock for the Contra-ICE Vol. 1 Comp, and Bikini Kill back together and on tour, it would only make sense if this fest could happen.

Plus Bikini Kill has never officially shared a stage with the Beastie Boys! A few fests yes, but nothing together. They are both political bands.

Think of it as a modern day Tibetan Freedom concert, Rock for Choice but like a Rock for Human Rights ( to Party ) with proceeds going to human rights advocacy groups, LGBTQ+ rights, women rights & reproductive care and anti ice organizations.

Olivia Rodriguez organized a very successful all women bands fest called Daisy Chain and the ticket proceeds and merch sales are all going towards pro women and abortion causes. This is very important; but it’s just one show.

A multi city, like Rock for Choice or old school Lollapalooza when it traveled is a fest we desperately need.

I understand MCA is gone but I feel he would be behind something like this. After all, he was all up in the Tibetan Freedom concert. Mike D’s boys know how to play music and would be the only logical replacement for MCA.

If this were to happen, what bands would you want to add to the bill?

My first take would be Bratmobile, Frightwig, Fea, Die Spitz, the Lunachicks, and get The Donna’s to reunite! Money Mark, Bad Brains, SubHumAns, Tom Morello, Jello Biafra, a spoken word tent for Henry Rollins.

A marketplace section such as a Zine & Book tents, DIY Patch and button making tent, iron on patches, school of rock / 3 o’clock Rock tent, vintage clothing tent, record shopping etc. All ages, family originated and air conditioned bathrooms. Etc. Make this fest a community oriented weekend. Heck, let’s get nostalgic and invite Jim Rose’s Circus!

It’s a day dreaming post, but one I want to put out there in hopes it can happen!

I hope this post makes it to Adam & Kathleen. They are the right people to be able to pull this off, and if given the opportunity, I would love to help organize it!

Anyone else feel like Mike D is about to drop Paul’s Boutique (2026)?

Seriously each single from Thank You has been stronger than the last. Crypto gave me Car Thief vibes and I just feel like he’s been brewing up a masterpiece this past decade and a half

Mike D "Thank You" Listening Event Thread

I went to one of the listening parties yesterday. Did you?

I don't feel like I'm the most qualified person to give an album review, but I will say that if you've found the singles to be a little early-2000s-techno-y so far, you'll probably like the second half of the album better.

Thoughts? Ratings? Sandwich suggestions?

Stumbled across this, pretty good actually

I was trying to search up that alternative version of Intergalactic where they're on the Tokyo subway. Can't find my dvd, was hoping it was online, anyway I found this, was skeptical, but pretty cool actually.
