Stolen tongues- Felix Blackwell

Hi guys I'm pretty much through with this book and I have thoroughly enjoyed it so far. I read some reviews and seen that it was harmful to the indigenous community.

I grew up in Scotland so Native America was not our focus point in history so I don't actually know much about the culture. I liked the indigenous characters in the book, found them interesting. So were they written poorly?

Was it sort of stereotypical like how Scots are seen as unruly gingers? I don't want to offend but I don't want to take this books representation of this culture at face value.

The book has scared me, made me watch my every move. I love this in a book. I'm pretty much at the end and it's kinda disappointing me but I'd still recommend.

I love learning about cultures and other peoples way of living so I want to be accurate about this.

What's a book that's so popular and hyped but let you down?

I'll start. Pet semetary by Stephen King.

This book was so hyped as the scariest book you'll ever read and recommended to me by many, it just didn't do it for me. I did enjoy it but did not meet my expectations.

American psycho by Bret Easton Ellis

I'm currently reading this. On page 100ish so far and I'm honestly really bored. So far I've just been getting blasted with characters I know nothing about. They're just introduced by name as if they were always part of the story. It's getting hard to keep up with.

Also I know he's meant to be materialistic but I can't keep reading 'She wore the wool, mid thigh length skirt from Calvin Klein' and 'He wore the double breasted shirt and silk blue tie from whoever'

I want to like it because everyone says it's so good. Does it get better?

Hi guys! So normally I read normal paperbacks or on my kindle. I have a free trial thing for an audiobook app, I was thinking about starting a book with it and I tried it for about 5 minutes before I was like 'nah'

I wanted to enjoy it because it would be nice to listen to an audiobook on the way to work but I just couldn't, maybe because I was inside and had the physical copy right there idk.

Is it something you have to kind of get used to or is it just not the same.

P.S. I am super glad audiobooks are an option for people who need it and they have that. I think it's totally great. Me personally I don't need to use them but I do see people rave about them. So im not judging if its your go to!

Has anyone ever sat down, opened word or google docs and tried to write their own thriller. I thought with how often I read them I'd be able to but that shit is HARD. I tried to do it and ended up spoiling my idea within page 3.
