Sometimes I lie By Alice Feeney

This is my fifth book of May and i have high hopes with this. If you have already read it how much you would rate this book?

Could I like other Lisa Jewell books?

I read Lisa Jewell's "Then she was Gone" and I really didn't care for it at all. It seemed very wordy and the story itself just seemed....odd. I don't want to say more since it would give away the mystery. Are all Lisa Jewell books similar in the wordiness and strange storyline? Or is it possible I would still enjoy some of her other books? I've been avoiding books by her since reading the one I did, but I wouldn't mind trying others from her, if I can get a little bit of assurance that they aren't all similar in those two issues

I really enjoy the writing by Sophie Hannah, if that's any help in reference to what I'm searching for in a book

I hope this is the correct subreddit for this, if not, would someone be willing to point me to where is? Thank you

The Cabin At The End Of The World

I read Intensity by Dean Koontz very recently ( my first Koontz) and loved it, made my top 10 list right away. The young clerk at the bookstore who recommended it called it the novel that got her hooked on suspense and thrillers… read it in her teens from her school library. I went back to the store to thank her for the recommendation, and she then recommended a book called The Cabin At The End Of The World by Paul Tremblay. She described it as a great introductory novel for a thriller person like me to branch out into the horror genre.

As a woman in her 70’s , I was quite impressed by this young person… enjoying the Koontz novel in her teens, that was written so long before her time. Makes me wonder if I too could become a fan of horror. Has anyone else read this novel by Tremblay? Or perhaps recommend others?

My God, Alice Feeney's sentence structure is painfully simplistic [My Husband's Wife by Alice Feeney]

Not only is she telling, not showing, but her sentences are so short it feels like my brain is stuttering. I remember reading books of hers a few years back and enjoying them, but I'm only 2% in and am feeling the pain. What happened?! Is this the dumbing down of books in front of my very eyes?!!

Just Finished None of This Is True by Lisa Jewell and Here’s How I Felt About the Ending (Spoilers Ahead!)

>!I think the ending is being misunderstood as “there is no truth” when the book actually gives us the truth pretty clearly.!<

>!The real point, in my opinion, is that Josie literally cannot live with reality. Every time reality becomes unbearable, she reshapes it into something else. !<

>!I personally don’t believe Roxy killed Brooke. I think Josie did, and then psychologically transferred that guilt onto Roxy because accepting the real truth would destroy her completely. !<

>!And honestly, that’s what makes the book so disturbing. Josie isn’t a cartoon villain or mastermind. She’s someone so detached from reality, so addicted to self-created narratives, that even she may partly believe her own lies.!<

>!But one thing I really did NOT like was how Walter’s behavior was framed toward the end. The whole “a 16-year-old manipulated him” angle genuinely bothered me. I’m sorry, but are we serious? He was the adult. Whatever manipulation or emotional complexity existed, that does not erase the responsibility and power imbalance there.!<

>!Also, screw Lisa Jewell for emotionally ruining me with this book!!<

Recommendations for getting out of reading slump.

I am starting a reading challenge to get out of my reading slump. The idea is to read one book from one country from every letter in the alphabet. Right now I am reading "In the winter dark" by Tim Winton (Australia). Next one B (Brazil, Bangladesh, etc) and so on.

I am into thrillers, sci-fi, classics but will read anything except for romance books, really.

Due to being in a reading slump I would prefer the books no to be 5-600 pages long, unless it is your favorite, then I will consider it ;)

Some thrillers I have enjoyed are, Apt Pupil, Crime and Punishment (I really like the psychological aspect), The girl with the dragon tattoo.

Thanks guys.

Seeking recommendations for thrillers that take place at a summer camp.

I’m currently finishing up The Last Time I Lied by Riley Sager and would love to read more thrillers that have a summer camp setting.

Robyn Harding books

So I've only read one book by Robyn Harding, The Drowning Woman. The best book I've read all year by far. I'm just wondering if her other books are as good. I know some of them are on Kindle unlimited. I just don't want to let myself down if her other books are not great.

Kindle unlimited recommendations

I’ve read pretty much all of Freida’s collection, enjoyed books like
-keep it in the family by John marrs
-rock, paper scissors by Alice feeny
-perfect marriage\divorce by Jeneva Rose
-love mom by Ileana Xander
-perfect child by Lucinda berry

You get the vibe, I feel like I’m hitting a wall of books that are keeping me interested. I’m currently reading Beautiful ugly by Alice feeny and I’m half way through but I find it kinda boring

Bad Tourists by Caro Carver-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Shocking plot twists and multiple POVs kept things engaging. Think white lotus but darker. Perfect vacation thriller!

''The kind worth killing'' by Peter Swanson

I'm at page 137 and this feels upsettingly slow. It's stalling, I'm having a hard time finishing it (don't wanna DNF it tho haha) so my question is : does it get better?
