Please clear my few doubts in CELPIP!
Hi everyone! I have a few doubts about my upcoming CELPIP exam. I’d really appreciate short one-line answers if possible. Thank you so much 🫶🏻
If I’m not satisfied with a local community workshop, should the email be formal or semi-formal?
Can idioms be used in CELPIP writing and speaking?
Can phrasal verbs like “die down” or “ask around” be used in writing and speaking?
Which greeting is better in formal/semi-formal emails: “Dear Customer Service Department” or “Dear Sir/Madam”?
Is a natural conversational tone okay in speaking, or should it sound very formal/robotic?
Are words like “is/am/are” counted as words in Writing Task 1 and Task 2?
Can we use both active and passive voice in speaking and writing?
Are hyphenated words like “acid-rain” counted as one word in reading and writing?
How many types of letters are there in CELPIP writing? 2 or 3?
How many examples should we give in Writing Task 2, and what kind of examples work best?
Are examples necessary in speaking tasks?
Should our viewpoint stay the same throughout Writing Task 2, including the conclusion? Is it better to add a little about the second viewpoint too?
Approximately how long/how many words should the introduction and conclusion be in both writing tasks?
Is it better to use contractions like “don’t/won’t,” or does it not matter in speaking and writing?
Are exclamation marks fine to use in Writing Task 1?
What is the best way to end a letter/email in all types of emails? Like- yours sincerely or sincerely? And first name or a full name?
After “Dear,” what should we write in formal, semi-formal, and informal emails? For example, emails to a manager, teacher, or organization.
If the name of the organization or team is given, what should we write after “Dear”?
Should we include “To:” and “Subject:” in CELPIP emails? If yes, what kind of subject line should we write? Should there be a full stop at the end of the subject?
