I took my 10 yr old daughter on her first backpacking trip to Kearsarge Pass. We did 2 nights and that was perfect for us. We didn’t have to push ourselves too much in one day. Both nights we stayed at Matlock lake and the views were beautiful. I was a little nervous with it just being us two but I’m glad I did it by myself with her! It all worked out and we had a great time
I’m looking for a nice peak to camp at to watch the city and all the fireworks specifically in San Bernardo area. I was thinking maybe Cucamonga or Baldy. Has anyone done this and where ?
Backpacked Gorgonio and stayed at halfway camp. Mosquitos were bad but overall a nice trip! Weather was nice at night. I had a long sleeve on and I was fine
I have a permit for Kearsarge pass on a Wednesday sometime this month and the camp area I chose is Flower Lake. This will be my first time taking my 10yr old backpacking alone and I’m a bit nervous. Is this a busy trail and camping area? I’m curious if I’ll see others on the trail and at camp

I’m looking for a good shell jacket to put over my puffer. I’m getting more into mountaineering and I’ll be doing Whitney soon so I want to upgrade and preferably not spend too much.
