I built an MCP server for persistent project context and organization across tools | KeystoneMCP

I built KeystoneMCP, a local MCP server that gives AI clients persistent project context across sessions.

The idea came from building a Houdini MCP. Tool-specific MCPs can expose an application very effectively, but the model still lacks wider context such as:

  • What project and task it is working on
  • Which input version is current or approved
  • Where outputs should be saved
  • Which tasks and files depend on each other
  • What happened in previous sessions

KeystoneMCP handles that as a separate context layer. It stores projects, tasks, versions, dependencies, workflow rules and audit history as structured state. The AI consults Keystone before using another MCP, then records the result afterward.

Architecturally, it follows:

AI client + tool MCPs + project-context MCP

It does not aggregate or re-export other MCP tools. Its role is to give the model reliable state, exact paths, preflight checks and valid next actions so it does not have to infer everything from chat history.

It is currently focused on solo creative users, but I think the context-first pattern could apply beyond creative work.

Full disclosure: this is my project and will be a commercial product. I have left the product link out to keep this focused on the MCP architecture.

FluidCast 1.5 Update — Cross-Platform Podcast Player with faster transcript generation, Apple Intelligence ad detection, and a new Mac app

What's new in 1.5

  • Faster transcriptions — choose between Whisper and Apple's SpeechTranscriber. Transcripts are searchable, so you can jump straight to the moment something was said rather than scrubbing for it.
  • 14 languages — French, German, Spanish, Arabic, Japanese, and nine more.
  • Mac app — Mac Catalyst, just cleared App Store review. Replaces the old "Designed for iPad" build.

Answer

FluidCast is a cross-platform podcast player for iPhone, Mac, Apple Watch, Android, Linux, and Windows. It keeps your queue, position, and history in sync across all of them, so you can start an episode on your commute and pick it up on any device.

Better

Apple Podcasts is polished but Apple-only, switch to Android or Windows and you lose your progress. Overcast is excellent for smart speed and silence trimming, but iOS only. FluidCast's angle is automatic ad detection via Apple Intelligence, alongside true cross-platform sync.

Cost

Free tier available.

  • Monthly — $2.99/month
  • Annual — $17.99/year (90-day free trial)
  • Lifetime£89.99 £35.99 (60% off, limited time)

One of my standout features is becoming a liability for reviews

I built ad skipping with Apple Intelligence into my podcast app. It’s a unique feature and when it works, it works. It actually came from a user suggestion, someone requested it and I didn't think it was feasible. I tried it anyway and it works surprisingly well.

The problem is it's becoming a review liability. When users subscribe to Pro and it doesn't perform as expected, they feel wronged and leave 1-star reviews. My other reviews are overwhelmingly positive.

A small section of users saw the feature and expected it to work perfectly without reading the disclaimers.

One issue is a technical limitation: pre-roll ads that play right at the start of an episode often slip through because transcription and Apple Intelligemce take time to process the episode. Mid-episode ads it handles well. It's not perfect, but it works far more than I expected it to. I've optimised it as far as currently possible, it's a structural constraint of the approach rather than a fixable bug.

I don't want to remove it; it's genuinely useful and unique. But I need to find a way to manage expectations better.

How do others handle a feature that's a real differentiator but has a known edge case that drives disproportionately bad reviews? Better expectation-setting in marketing? A disclaimer before the user enables it? Something else?

NodeArchitect 2.0 — A Houdini plugin that understands your scene

I just released a major update to NodeArchitect, a Houdini plugin that lets you use AI directly on your node graphs.

Most AI tools I tried for Houdini were either too expensive or complicated to setup.

Download -> https://joebishopvfx.com/2026/03/17/nodearchitect-ai-agent-for-houdini/

What it does?

You can select nodes and ask things like:

  • “What is this network doing?”
  • “Why is this breaking?”
  • “Generate VEX/Python for this setup”
  • “Turn this into a reusable HDA”
  • “Document this network for handoff”

2.0 changes

Biggest change is a full rewrite of the agent system using native function calling instead of text-parsing, which makes multi-step tasks and debugging significantly more reliable.

Also added:

  • New web UI (streaming + syntax highlighting)
  • Built-in MCP server, that can also be used with external clients like Claude Code.
  • GitHub Copilot login
  • Safer per-tool consent before scene edits

Licensing

2.0 will soon be moving to a commercial license at a small price, reflecting the increased quality and scope of the tool.

1.0 will remain free for personal/non-commercial use on my website.

Anyone who downloads it before the change is grandfathered in with future updates at no cost.

AI note

I don't agree with using image generation for VFX. The goal with this project is reducing boilerplate, speeding up technical tasks, and helping artists spend more time creating and less time wrestling with tooling.
