My friend calls me at 1am or 2am almost every night. She's always crying about something.

I've been there for her for months. But i'm exhausted. i have work in the morning.

last week i stopped answering. I text her in the morning instead.

She got upset and said i'm abandoning her when she needs me.

but when do i get to sleep?

TL;DR: Friend calls at 2am every night crying. I stopped answering. She says i'm abandoning her.

i'm 22 and have been with my boyfriend for almost 5 years. we live in his mom's basement and pay $500 each in rent. we're both trying to save up for a down payment on an apartment.

my step mom recently gifted me $55k. it's a lot of money for me. i've never had that much before.

my boyfriend is very prideful. he refuses help from anyone. he wants us to move out on our own without any handouts. he doesn't even like when i pay for dinner sometimes.

i haven't told him about the money yet. i'm scared it will change things between us. or that he'll get weird about it. or that he'll feel like less of a provider.

but hiding it also feels wrong. we're supposed to be a team. and this money could help us buy a place sooner.

a few of my friends say i should just put it in savings and pretend it doesn't exist. others say i'm being dishonest by keeping secrets.

i don't know what to do. but am i the jerk for not telling him yet?
