What kind of benefit should I expect?

Hi everyone,

I'm considering ICL surgery and was wondering if anyone here has had a similar prescription and could share their experience.

My current prescription is:

Right eye (OD):

SPH: -3.50

CYL: -3.50

AXIS: 019

Left eye (OS):

SPH: -5.25

CYL: -3.25

AXIS: 177

ADD: +1.25 (both eyes)

I was evaluated for ICL around 2017 by Dr. Sam Fanous in Montreal and was told I was a candidate. However, I was told that due to the complexity of my prescription, I likely wouldn't end up with perfect vision and would probably still need glasses afterward.

I'm not a candidate for LASIK/PRK because of a eye tremor (nystagmus) and I also have Essential Tremor & Cervical Dystonia making the whole thing even more complicated. You can also add severe anxiety to the pot

The main reason I'm reconsidering ICL now is that I'm a soccer referee. My prescription is apparently too strong for most conventional prescription sports glasses, and several optical labs have told me they can't manufacture them. I'm currently trying to find a specialty provider that can.

A few questions:

- Does anyone here have a prescription similar to mine?

- If you had ICL, what vision did you end up with afterward?

- Did it completely eliminate your need for glasses, or do you still wear them for certain activities?

- If you also had significant astigmatism, how well was it corrected?

- Would you do the surgery again?

Thanks!

Prescription glasses?

Hey everyone!

Recently came back to refereeing after a ~12 years break.

My vision was never the best but its gotten to a point where if I want to be able to see anything, I need my glasses.

I have done some quick research in the rules from IFAB and found that the only acceptable types of glasses are "sports glasses" but have not found any further definition as to what is considered sports glasses. I have also seen a specification under Law 4 that says something along the lines of "if its dangerous disallow it" so I assume something with impact resistance would work?

My prescription is too high for contact lenses and the "curved sports glasses" that I find when you look online cannot hold my prescription as the lense would be too thick. I am considering potentially getting ICL if I start refereeing enough however its 4500$ per eye so a bit out of budget currently.

I have contacted my local club and was told "Get sports glasses". I have asked for further specifications and didnt get a reply.

Could anyone point me towards a more clear definition so I can figure out what kind of glasses I need to get?

First center with AR soon

Hey everyone!

Not sure if you guys remember my previous post but I recently came back after a break of over ten years and will get my first center game with AR this week.

Would anyone have any advice to give?

Hand Tremors!

Hey everyone!
Referee coming back to the game after a 14ish years break noticed that I started shaking a lot with my hands (or at least it got worse over the years) and I am somewhat struggling to write with pen & paper

I am curious, is there any small electronic notepad that I could use to replace the pen & paper booklet or would the only real electronic option be a smart watch ?

Where is the technology at for ICL surgery?

Hey everyone,

I have been debating eye surgery for quite some time now and met 2 eye surgeons a few years ago. (Before COVID I think)

The first surgeon I met was from these "lasik md" shops who only focus on Lasik and do as many cases per day as possible so any "harder" case gets refused (I was refused)

Met the 2nd surgeon who is well known around where I am (Think high ranked member of local eye institute) who does lasik and many other eye surgeries. He recommended ICL but said I could only get my glasses prescription which feels not worth it?

Is it still the case for ICL or is there a way to get better vision?

Help me choose if I upgrade or just build new

Hey everyone,

Here is my current build https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/Y99Fg3 (It's OLD, I believe that I built this PC back in 2015 or 2016 so it's had a good life so far)

I did a RAM upgrade during COVID (which is why my ram is DDR4 3200 even though my build can't actually usse it)

I am running into an issue where a lot of the games I play (or just more recent games) would require a better build and I am honestly just unsure if it would be worth upgrading the current build or just start a brand new build.

Currently, the upgrade I am thinking is replacing the CPU to a more recent one (thinking a Ryzen 5600) and the MOBO to a ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Gaming WiFi II

I have very little knowledge regarding PCs so I am unsure if what I am aiming for is a good idea or not (I used ChatGPT to come up with these upgrades)

I am unsure if it would be worth even doing those upgrades or if it would be better to just make a new build so any advice is welcome.

Recently started Finasteride

Hey everyone,

I am currently NW 6 and aiming to get a hair transplant (probably in Thailand).

I recently started taking oral finasteride (1.25 mg). My doctor wants me to first try finasteride for 6-8 weeks to rule out any side effects and then we will add oral minoxidil so I can take both before I look into a hair transplant.

My insurance wouldn't cover 1 mg but they accepted to cover 5 mg so I am now taking 5 mg divided by 4 (the drug store cuts them) so it's 1.25 mg daily

How long did it take for Finasteride to make any noticeable difference? What should I realistically expect from it?

To come back and not to come back

Hey everyone,

I hope everyone is doing great.

I'm not a really good player (mainly more a collector cause I have social anxiety so pugging is absolutely terrible for me and I have basically no friends left who play the game.

I last played during TWW early on (I think it was season 1 or 2 at most) and haven't touched the game since then.

I've been considering coming back to the game but I feel like as a noob dps (BM Hunter for the win), I am gonna be stuck in LFG jail forever haha.

How is LFG for someone who might want to try and play a new class or role like Tank or Healer? How quick are queues and how nice is the community towards new players lately?
