The St. Kizito massacre occurred on July 13, 1991, at St. Kizito Mixed Secondary School in Meru, Kenya. Male students attacked the girls' dormitory after the girls refused to join a school strike. The assault and subsequent stampede resulted in the deaths of 19 girls and the rape of 71 others.

On the night of the tragedy, over 200 male students cut the school's electricity and communication lines. They stoned the girls' dormitory, broke down the doors, and dragged the girls into the fields. The majority of the 19 fatalities were the result of suffocation or being crushed during the chaotic stampede as the girls desperately tried to hide or escape.

Police arrested 39 of the male students. Ultimately, nine were prosecuted, and four were convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to FOUR YEARS in prison by the Meru High Court.
