Picked Up a Quest 3 for $239 and It Feels Like Having a Private IMAX
A few days ago I picked up a Quest 3 from FB Marketplace mainly because I wanted to try VR movies.
The first thing I watched was Apollo 11 and honestly it blew me away way more than I expected. Watching movies lying down with the Q3 really feels like having a private IMAX theater, especially once you make the screen huge. The immersion is on a completely different level compared to watching on a TV or monitor.
And the craziest part is I only paid $239 for the Q3, and the seller even threw in a Carina D1 charging dock. Honestly, a dock like this is super convenient for Quest. I can just drop the headset on the desk and it starts charging automatically, plus the controllers stay organized instead of being scattered everywhere. The overall experience feels way more premium than I expected. Now I’m planning to get a third-party head strap next to improve comfort even more, and I feel like the movie experience will get even better.
After this experience, I’m honestly starting to feel like I might not need to go to movie theaters anymore, especially for space documentaries like this. Watching them in VR is just insane. Also wanted to ask: besides YouTube, what are some better ways to watch movies on Quest 3? And are there any movies or 3D movies you guys especially recommend watching in VR?
