Now this is weird!!!!!

So I**’**m kind of confused about my IRS transcript situation and wanted to see if anyone here has dealt with something similar.

I filed a 2025 1040-NR around Feb 1. I owed $51, so I attached a check with the return. I also included a W-7 application for an ITIN and mailed my passport with the package.

A while later the IRS cashed the $51 check, got my passport back with the CP565 latter, and eventually I became eligible for and received a Social Security Number instead of needing the ITIN

After getting the SSN, I mailed the IRS explaining the situation and asking them to merge the records with my SSN, and I attached the CP565 latter with my SSN card.

For two months straight nothing appeared in my account, but then on May 1 it says**:**

  • No tax return filed

So it looks like they definitely received something because the payment is posted, but the actual return itself still doesn**’**t appear to be processed.

Has anyone dealt with this before? and should I be worried the return itself got lost somehow?

Notes**:**

  1. I didn**’**t send my physical SSN card but a photocopy of it
  2. My W-7 was processed rather quickly I received my passport on 28 February approximately 4 weeks after filing
  3. The merge latter was sent on the 10th of march.
