A verse from Srimad Bhagavad Gita in Classroom of the elite.
While a lot of modern Indian cinema keeps borrowing from Western trends, it’s interesting to see anime doing the opposite that is picking up Indian philosophy, history, and spiritual ideas.
This quote from the Bhagavad Gita appearing in Classroom of the Elite honestly caught me off guard.
“To work you have the right, but not to the fruits thereof.”
Anime has referenced concepts like karma, detachment, dharma, rebirth, and even entire mythological inspirations for years now. Meanwhile many of our own films hesitate to explore Indian philosophy with the same depth or style.
Kinda ironic that Japanese animation is introducing global audiences to Indian thought while Bollywood often sidelines it for Westernized storytelling.
Indian culture has stories, philosophy, and symbolism powerful enough to inspire the world and moments like this prove it already does.
