I know, this ain't a new topic. But our All Star lineups just came out and wow, Daddyball won big.
Has anyone's league found a fair way to deal with this?
Edit: I'm a coach. I have nothing but love for our league, and the issue is not the kids who have the skills.
Do you guys all know how much of an icon Sharon Stone was in her peak early 90s fame? She was almost a bit like Madonna. Insanely intelligent, wickedly talented, and who believed that her identity was deepened by her sexuality, not cheapened. And it was to a very large effect; movies like Basic Instinct then had the ability to change pop culture and it did. Nobody had seen a femme fatale like her before; when Michael Douglas declared her character as "the fuck of the century" while fully knowing that she might kill him, you believed him. And her life was as interesting off screen as on.
So it's incredibly apropos for her to be on this show which delves into many of the deep themes that her roles addressed, along with some cheeky aside to some of the 3^(rd) wave feminism that she repped.
Her interviews with late night talkshows were epic. She'd run circles around Letterman. It would be a 20 minute interview where she would manage to not answer a single question but everyone would have a blast.
EDIT: So in 1992 when Basic Instinct was released, there was a strong argument within the LGBTQ community (and wider society in general) over just *how* important it was to represent your sexuality. Some activists and writers were stressing that it was a small part of who we are overall, and therefore one shouldn't be judged by this. Fair enough.
But after Basic Instinct, Sharon Stone had a platform where she would publicly state that this is wrong; our sexuality is *who we are* and we should own it and not downplay it and celebrate it. Madonna did this, but Madonna wasn't nearly as funny or happy in interviews. She was always a character artist.
