Remove unused windows xp versions.

So, im in a strange situation.
My aunt had this Dell Inspiron mini 10 she didn't use anymore (because it "didn't work anymore". The battery is missing and the charger was probably eaten by a rat.) so I took it. I made it work and transferred all her files somewhere else to give it back to her. I really like this device, it's small and pretty handy since I like writing.
But I have an issue. My aunt is french. So the laptop is in french. It has windows xp "edition familiale" (which is, from my understanding, windows xp home edition).
I tried looking online to change the language and saw how the only solution was to get windows xp pro sp3 in English.
It didn't really work... The setting up went well until I got a screen telling me some file was missing. So I cancelled.
But now, everytime I boot up the laptop, I get this black screen asking me to select which operating system I want to run.
It's a little annoying.
I decided to suck it up and keep the "edition familiale", ill get used to the french anyway, and I understand some of it so it's not that bad.
I would like to know if there are any ways to remove this black screen when starting? To remove the failed windows XP Pro edition from the device?
